U.S. jobless claims fall as labor market recovery continues — Reuters

Cutting off the excessive gubmint teat is hopefully forcing the worm to turn but still way above prepandemic levels… and with a bunch of Help Wanted signs everywhere. Get your asses back to work people.

Economists polled by Reuters had forecast 375,000 applications for the latest week. Unadjusted claims, which offer a better read of the labor market, decreased 5,198 to 320,517 last week.

Claims remain well above their pre-pandemic level of 256,000, though they have dropped from a record 6.149 million in early April 2020.

There are still fears that rising coronavirus cases caused by the Delta variant could slow the employment recovery amid a shortage of workers. There were a record 10.1 million job openings at the end of June. About 8.7 million people are officially unemployed.

That one (1) cheeseburger with a small fry will cost $18.00 + tax for a total: $21.69 .. sir.
So, if you have a family of four on vacation coming back from the beach ... do the math.
Yep not including food our Route 66 is already costing us almost 1k more...600 more for car rental and nearly 200 extra in gas

In other news, in 15 years of owning a laptop, I’ve never lost or had one stolen.
I found a memory stick on a plane once, I imagine the two women on there didn't expect strangers to be looking. Nothing spectacular so I reformatted - it was a 256 Meg. Think the Russians did the same thing?

Border Patrol agents in the nation’s busiest sector, the Rio Grande Valley, apprehended more than 320 migrants in two groups during a 24-hour period.

McAllen Station Border Patrol agents patrolling near Havana, Texas, on Tuesday afternoon, encountered a large group of migrants, according to information obtained from Border Patrol officials in the Rio Grande Valley Sector. The agents apprehended the group of 181 migrants and began processing them.

During processing, the agents identified the migrants as citizens of Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Officials said the group consisted of 141 family units, 25 unaccompanied minors, and 15 single adults. The agents arranged transportation of the migrants to the McAllen Station for processing.

Less than 24 hours later, agents patrolling the border near La Grulla encountered another large group totaling 146. They identified the migrants as citizens of Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Officials did not disclose any group demographics.

We are witnessing the exploitation of a group of people, the modern, more palatable slave trade to support and prop up the large cities. Someones gotta plant, cultivate and harvest the food for mega farms success they've run all the independent farms out of business.

The current trajectory isn't sustainable. It's going to come to a terrible halt soon.

Texas Border Communities Seek Federal Moratorium on Migrant Releases

Texas border community leaders are set to meet with Biden Administration officials and will reportedly ask for a moratorium on releasing additional migrants from federal custody.

DHS Secretary Mayorkas is visiting ground zero for the current migrant crisis along the Texas border with Mexico — the Rio Grande Valley Sector. While, once again, no press or media is being allowed during the secretary’s visit, Mayorkas will meet with the mostly Democrat members of the Texas Border Coalition, Concho Valley Homepage reports.

Laredo Mayor Pete Saenz told Border Report the group intends to ask Mayorkas for a total “moratorium on migrant releases … To send resources to deal with this mess and to sort it out and to better manage them,” Saenz told the news outlet.

So according to google maps, it'd take 458 hours to walk from San Pedro Sula Honduras to Mc Allen Texas - that's 19 days with no sleep or rest.
Can someone please explain to me why someone ( a million plus) would go to all that effort to come to this country?
