President Joe Biden - Kamala Harris Administration

I've never met Jim Webb, but I could easily believe the thing about his being an ass. The Nightingale's Song by Robert Timberg covers Webb pretty well. Timberg is also an ex Marine officer who was burned and horribly scarred in Viet Nam, and still became a journalist; his books are well worth reading. Right now in dealing with problems like China having a competent ass in office might not be such a bad thing.

I'll have to pick that up and give it a read.

The funny thing is that the two people I could consider worth voting for from both parties are both dems - Jim Webb and Tulsi Gabbard. Maybe we don't know enough about them, but from all appearances their characters seem to exceed their political views, and that's almost unheard of in current day politics.
Tulsi huh?

So you like many of the following:

Federal Minimum wage $15
Conducting studies on reparations
Free college
Elimination of the electoral college
Close down all nuclear power plants in this country
Assault weapons ban
Wants Medicare for all

She'd be a disaster. People only like her bc she's cute and calls HC out on her ********.

We had a competent ass in office. Apparently the scarring from mean tweets was just too much to bear.
As soon as Trump touted the black and employment numbers the Dems went all-out to make sure the blacks knew how bad they had it.

No way would they be expected to have a job with the Dems in charge.

The Nightingale's Song covers an interesting mix of characters - John McCain, James Webb, Oliver North, Robert McFarlane, and John Poindexter. All are Annapolis grads, and it didn't do much to inspire my faith in Annapolis either. Blue-Eyed Boy: A Memoir is about Timberg's injuries in Viet Nam and how he lived with them to become a journalist. His face was horribly scarred and deformed. Both books are really good.

When my wife was on active duty in DC, she was able to swing a few shifts at Bethesda to keep her clinical skills up - she's an RN. One of her patients said something about the guy in the next room having a hard time dealing with things - I don't know that she talked to him, but it was Timberg - this was several years after he wrote The Nightingale's Song. She bought me the book; my brother had already told me I should read it, so I knew who he was when she told me about it.

it makes perfect sense - your assessment of the candidate on your side is that she was the victim of negative stories; the candidate you oppose gets no such grace.

lie to yourself the you are objectively evaluating character while others don't/can't but you demonstrated your subjectivity within the post
Please.....you guys give me indigestion.
In the 25 years leading up to 2016 (1990-2015), look at the role the media played in the development of public opinion about each.
I'll leave it there. I need to go get a couple of Tums.

I don't care at all for many of Tulsi's political views, but when faced with fact she seems to adapt. I can deal a lot better with someone who has differing political points of view but who has the strength of character to stop and objectively review things and change. That's far better than having someone you can agree with politically but has no real honesty or the character to understand he/she represents everyone. We are where we are because it's an either/or situation without some sort of moderation. There's a lot more to leadership than simple doctrine.

Who says she would adapt and compromise? She is who she is by her proclamation of policy. Just a soft socialist that supported Sanders. Freaking hard pass.

Hillary's actions and words very much helped shape public opinion of her. She's crooked, luther. Your inability to admit that simple truth demonstrates your willful blindness to it, and is most likely based in your political beliefs. It's really no different than those on the right who fail to see what an obnoxious ass hat Trump is. Both sides make excuses for horrible people, and that includes you every time you insist Hillary is the victim of "right wing propaganda". That's BS. And I'm convinced you know it's BS. But for some reason you feel the need to fight tooth and nail for the honor of anyone that has a "D" next to their name. I'm convinced if Trump had remained a Democrat you'd defend him in the same way.

Meh. When politicians represent a party, they fail to represent all of the citizens they serve. They're not elected to represent the Republican Party or the Democrat Party. They're elected to represent their constituents. But just about every single one of them forget that.

Yes Trump is obnoxious. What that has anything to do with anyone we pick is beyond comprehension.

I would like to smack that smug indignation off of her lying face.

I remember her in that arms crossed black dressed departure photo from Obama's last days. Almost screamed what was about to take place with the successor.

The President represents the entirety of the country. He shouldn't spend his days intentionally trying to piss off half the people he serves. That's what it has to do with it. People are too caught up in "pissing off the other side" to remember that. The President serves all Americans, not just Americans that are part of a particular political party.

Are you experiencing deja vu?

You are too caught up in semantics and optics. One could place ANY "R" in office right now..and the liberals would be just the same.
I dont hate Joe because he is an adulterer and draft dodger, or whatever. Yes they are unseemly, but how does that matter?

This is not year 1990 anymore. We are literally in an ideological battle between capitalism and socialism and worse. Biden doubling the Fed budget to 33% of GDP should tell you that.

Policy Policy...all that freaking matters. This character debate is laughable.
