Majority Says Biden Isn’t ‘Mentally Sharp’: Poll

A majority of Americans now say that President Biden is not “mentally sharp,” according to a new poll from the Pew Research Center.

The survey, which like other polls shows Biden’s overall approval rating sinking, found that just 43 percent said the phrase “mentally sharp” described him either “very well” or “fairly well,” an 11 point drop from the same poll in March, while 56 percent said the phrase describes him “not at all well” or “not too well.” This was his worst showing in any of the personal characteristics surveyed.

This is evidence in support of something I have suspected for weeks, which is that the Afghanistan blunder does not alone explain the collapse of Biden’s approval ratings. That is, people often don’t prioritize foreign policy as an issue, so it was remarkable to witness Biden’s approval nosedive so quickly. As I speculated in an Editors podcast a few weeks back, the dramatic drop in may not have been directly related to the nuances of Afghanistan policy, but to the fact that the crisis showed Biden to be weak, lacking command, kind of out of it, and frankly, too old.

Biden’s botched handling of the crisis drew attention to his lack of mental acuity in ways that previous rehearsed performances did not, and that likely made a lot more people uneasy. Though one poll does not prove anything (nor does it establish a causal relationship) it does at least suggest that his polling issues go beyond merely Afghanistan.

Harsh tweets from congress in this article in response to Biden tweet. Too many to even post.

Biden team ripped as 'economically illiterate' for claim Build Back Better 'costs zero dollars'

Analysts and lawmakers called President Joe Biden out for tweeting that his Build Back Better plan "costs zero dollars," with even one supporter calling the claim false.

Republicans have ripped Build Back Better, a $3.5-trillion reconciliation package, as a massive bill that "ultimately provides benefits to wealthy liberal elites at the expense of working-class families." Moderate Democrats like Sens. Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz., and Joe Manchin, D-W. Va., and Rep. Stephanie Murphy, D-Fla., have also raised concerns about the reconciliation package, the latter noting the bill lacks cost analysis by the Congressional Budget Office.

"I don’t think we can afford everything," Murphy said. "Unless something changes, I have no choice but to vote no on every subtitle (in the bill) and on final passage."

In other news, 43% of poll respondents have never actually watched Biden give a speech.

I would love to know the demographic breakdown of the 43% that describe that senile moran as mentally sharp. It is simply unfathomable that anyone who has watched him or has more than passing familiarity with current events actually believes that. Of course, there are people who still believe Jimmy Carter was a good President.

The Biden popularity limbo dance continues. 40% at only 8 months in!

The GOP might have a chance again at this rate. Rasmussen and others simply have to do a better job of polling phantom dem voters so we know the real picture though. That's especially crucial if mail in voting is to be continued.

Continuation of mail in voting is going to be a fun issue. Either the dems have to keep the pandemic pot stirred, or accept the crisis is over and the need goes away. If they keep the crisis, then they have to admit that despite being handed tools like vaccines, effective treatment, and not having faced a surprise attack, that they in reality had no better plan than Trump despite hammering away at his "failure". Of course, they can play the race card ... again, and claim mail in voting is the only way to end Jim Crow - it's hard to imagine all the dem beds he hides under and closets he infests - the guy gets around better than Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny combined.

The clown is criminally naïve to think otherwise.
