Markos Moulitsas is the founder of the Progressive Left blog DailyKos. He also cofounded SB Nation before selling it to Vox Media. A few years ago he put together a polling division for his Kos Media empire and hired a scientist from Emory University as the director. From what I can tell their polling approach is essentially the same as what the LA Times used in forecasting a Trump win in 2016.
Anyway, so these numbers come from the left and are updated daily. I’ll link the website at the bottom but I went through the features to get an idea of Biden’s favorability with different demographic groups. The number presented is favorability minus unfavorability or net favorability. Negative numbers would be where he is underwater.
The site also has net favorability by state and you can look at different demographic groups within a state. It’s a pretty cool site I think. The only thing it doesn’t publish is the size of the various demographic groups so one has to find that elsewhere. While it’s not that accurate you can operate with the rough assumption that the national electorate is divided into thirds, Democrats, Republicans, and Independents. Obviously it varies significantly by state.
Partisans are as expected in their love/hate for Biden but Independents which Biden reportedly won in 2020 have switched sides and I think it began with Afghanistan. Also a lot of young Democrats seem less enthusiastic that their older party members in their view of the guy at the top.
Something to keep in mind is people have a difficult time with the Hispanic demographic because according to Pew research almost half of so-called Hispanics reportedly self-identify as white and increasing numbers have reportedly taken to identifying as other in regards to race.
For what it’s worth these charts will show a snapshot of what different groups think of Biden as of right now. The data date is November 10, 2021.
