President Trump's Cabinet?

An interesting read on Mattis as SecDef.

Mattis as defense secretary: What it means for us, for the military, and for Trump | Foreign Policy

I've known and admired General James Mattis (USMC, ret.) for years, and have written about him in a couple of books and in this blog. A few years ago, after Mattis was given the bum’s rush into retirement by the Barack Obama administration, I described him as “a tough-minded realist, someone who’d rather have tea with you than shoot you, but is happy to end the conversation either way.” Or, as he instructed his Marines in Iraq, “Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet.”

Another memorable comment of his in Iraq, from my book Fiasco, was, “I come in peace. I didn’t bring artillery. But I’m pleading with you, with tears in my eyes: If you **** with me, I’ll kill you all.”

By contrast, I think President-elect Donald Trump will be a historic shambles, the Herbert Hoover of the 21st century. So it was with some surprise that I read Sunday morning that Mattis has become the frontrunner to become defense secretary. Trump tweeted Sunday morning that, “General James ‘Mad Dog” Mattis, who is being considered for Secretary of Defense, was very impressive yesterday. A true General’s General!”

So, if Mattis is picked, how is his tenure running the Defense Department likely to go?

How can you not like this guy?

That quote gets attributed to him a lot, but it was actually General Tommy Franks who said it. But like I said last week, I like all post 9-11 Marines, revere General Mattis. There's never been a more qualified individual to lead the Department of Defense.

Having served with marines, amphibious force USN I have immense respect for them. We need leaders desperately and this man is a no brainer.

Because there's no reason for it to exist. And because it has become a bureaucratic, pork-laden nightmare.

DHS is an end-around to the constitutional safeguard against an active federal militiarized police force on US ground, and an affront to state sovereignty.

Probably about like the AF being a taxi service.

Anyone that knows, a barf bag comes in an envelope. I would brief troops and tell them that if they got motion sickness to puke in the barf bag and tie the end and dispose of it as they left the plane. I had 1 Marine that puked in the envelope, true story.

Marines aren't the only ones that do that. Had a young Airman that did the same thing.

Dang Trump and his war on women!

Oh wait...

Trump picks Elaine Chao for transportation secretary - CNNPolitics.com

President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Elaine Chao, the former labor secretary and wife of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, to be his choice for transportation secretary, an official briefed on the matter told CNN on Tuesday.

The announcement is expected to come this afternoon.

Chao served as secretary of labor under President George W. Bush from 2001 through 2009 -- the longest tenure in the position since World War II -- and has been married to McConnell since 1993. She was the first Asian-American woman to serve in a Cabinet position.

Steven Mnuchin is going to be treasury secretary. He is a Yale educated, Goldman Sachs banker. So much for " draining the swamp." He is also the guy who made profits off of foreclosing the homes of 36,000 homeowners. So much for being a friend of the middle class.

Trump's cabinet picks betray his "drain the swamp" campaign rhetoric. It looks like the outsider is slowly easing into the swamp infested waters of the establishment political class.

Looks that way doesn't it. They answer to the president though. Doing what they want to do is another story.

So he shouldn't foreclose on people that don't pay their mortgage? Yeah, what an azzhole.

How do I put this.... The guy basically ran a Ponzi scheme. He bought a bank from the government (IndyMac) that was already in trouble because of bad loans. They would foreclose on the homes of people who were eligible for a government assisted modification. They would then promise homeowners an extension on their home loan their home loan but then turn around and sell the house without the homeowner ever knowing.
