President Trump's Cabinet?

It's the Dept of Education! A totally useless federal department, how much damage can she possibly do?

Some of you guys act like she will be responsible for the nuclear codes or something else important.

And it's not like she can really control the purse strings. The vast majority of their budget is already dictated by arbitrary formulas. She just needs to be a competent administrator which she will be. The opposition to her is really about school choice. Dems and the Unions are clearly against it because it threatens to bust up their education cartel. All this other stink they make is a distraction

Forget the politics of it.

She simply has no idea what she's doing.

Thats hilarious, Dems complaining about unqualified candidates for major government positions. Where were you hiding the last 8 years? I agree with you on this candidate but Dems are not in a position to protest sorry.

Oh please. Fat rich Republican Senators?

Get off your high horse and understand every Senator that goes into office gets rich. Find out how much Harry Reid was worth going into office and how much he's worth now.

Republicans prove over and over again, they don't care about the middle class or poor.

They don't even try to hide it anymore.

And the Dems do? Please point to some of the evidence that the dems give two ****s about the poor and middle class in between elections?

Democrats don't either. In fact, what they do is worse. They manipulate and use lower class people, especially minorities, to get them into office. At least Republicans are outright with their disdain.

She is against individualised learning. That may not mean anything to fat rich Republican senators, but to children who have special needs, it is everything.

“If confirmed, I will be a strong advocate for great public schools,” she says. “But, if a school is troubled, or unsafe, or not a good fit for a child – perhaps they have a special need that is going unmet — we should support a parent’s right to enroll their child in a high quality alternative.”

Mr. Democratic Socialist himself, Bernie, (while clamoring about the importance of gov't funded education) has multiple houses and lives above what normal Americans do. Frankly, I'm sick and tired of people acting like everyone in Washington isn't on the dole and this is only a Republican phenomenon. They're all controlled by special interests and have been for generations.

The teachers unions are massive donors to the Dems. Gee, I wonder why they've come out in such a fervor against a person who is a proponent of privatized education?

Whatever happened to conservatism in education?

To learn the "best which has been thought and said," as Matthew Arnold taught us?

What happened to "kultur"?

Now, we just get some half-bit, nouveau riche common-blood heiress, who thinks grizzly attacks are worth carrying permits in schools.

For a site that throws "Idiocracy" around as proof of point, this doesn't strike as irony?

You are correct.

Even though I'm no longer an educator, I am threatened by kooks like Devos.

She is the epitome of Idiocracy. The endgame of the inmates at the asylum.

If we get to 10-15 in line we have much bigger problems.

Ever see the movie "By Dawn's Early Light"? It was an HBO flick from around the fall of the Soviets about an accidental nuclear exchange and the Secretary of the Interior gets (accidentally) put into the office of acting POTUS because they thought the real POTUS was dead.

Pretty good movie which makes you think about the nuclear triad and how it works.

Because Republicans have been screwing it over for decades by defunding programs, but good job deflecting.

And your party and its ridiculous national programs are a large reason our national debt is nearly 20 trillion dollars. We cannot afford big government, and any Republican or Democrat who advocates such needs their asses kicked out of Washington.

Federal govt spending per student has doubled since the Dept of Edication was founded

Further, graduating seniors are performing no better.

Clearly throwing money at it isn't doing anything
