President Trump's Cabinet?

You'd think that would get him 48 votes right off the bat, however as soon as he learned about her status, he terminated her employment and repaid all back taxes.

Do you really want someone who didn't fully vet a Latino before hiring her to work in his home as Labor Secretary?

... and for an administration which has made illegal immigration such a point of emphasis? That's seems inconsistent to me but whatever...

You can name private colleges. 5 points to you. I think most of us are aware that the debate centers more around k-12 education.

DeVos will not, cannot and does not plan to privatize k-12 education. It's a moot point; a red herring.

Does she favor school choice where some of the choice options are private? Yes. Even under that model will the vast amount of schools remain public schools and the vast amount of k-12 student remain in public schools? Yes.

Reread the post you referred to - it was about central government control of education.

A bit ironic that the left has continually sought to vest more education decision making power in the Federal government (at the expense of local control) and now they fear that centralized control will do.

Again, you're showing an inability to follow a debate. You, and anyone else who is looking for some amusement, should go back and read the last 2 or 3 pages and see for yourself.

Democrats have acted outright obnoxious this entire cycle into the current term. It's hard to take their outrage seriously.

...and it's hard to take Trump's stance on illegal immigration seriously if he wants a Labor Secretary who employed an undocumented worker in his home for years. Did Andrew Puzder not think it was possible that a middle aged Latino was here illegally? He is either stupid or he didn't care.

That is her goal and her desire and she will move the country in that direction as much as she can. It will be to the detriment of millions of kids, and eventually society as a whole.

Her goal? Got a link where she says her goal is to make all k-12 education in the US private?

Do you even know what the DoEd can do? Help me envision how she'll achieve this evil plan.

You're the idiot railing against private education. Just because I can't name K-12 schools off the top of my head doesn't mean they aren't more successful than public education facilities.

I'm not defending this but he ain't the first cabinet nominee to have an illegal immigrant employee problem.

Still pales in comparison to Geithner not paying taxes when he's being put forward to run Treasury (and hence the IRS).

Devos' ideas, however intentioned, could set into motion an effective takeover of private schools by the federal government. They won't affect public schools much at all.

School vouchers are a horrible idea, and I say that as a libertarian who leans conservative. Liberals hate them too, but for a completely different reason.

Isn't that profiling? Dems and immigration activists screeched against that sort of behavior, did they not? (Arizona SB 1070)

I couldn't care less about that. If he had a business that did that on a large scale, it'd be a different story. A domestic worker is a completely different ball game where there is a ghost entity involved if there even is one.

Also, just because someone is Latino doesn't mean you should vet them like the FBI. I mean doesn't the left grab their pitchforks for such a reaction?

I just googled "devos and privatization". You go and pick out the articles you wish to read. There are plenty to choose from.

Give me a break... He should have vetted this worker he employed in his home. It is absolutely ridiculous that we are about to have a Labor Secretary who employed an undocumented Mexican worker in his own freaking home for years... and for an administration which has made building a wall across the Mexican border and keeping illegal immigrants out of the country who might either take low paying jobs or break the law his platform and point of emphasis.

Some of you really would defend Trump for ANYTHING.

Shame on you BB, that would be profiling.

We are talking about the freaking Labor Secretary here! Good lord.

I'm not sure how a private person can validate any SSN that isn't theirs. Someone could have a fake or reused SSN and as someone hiring a household worker there's no way I know for you to confirm that.

Many of them are and for all of the obvious reasons (at least to those with half a brain). These same reasons are why it's detrimental in the long run.
