Presidential Debate #1 Game Thread

Ignorance cuts both ways, no? I was shocked Bush won re-election in 2004 after it was obvious (to me) that Iraq was a sham. Voters often make decisions on who runs the best campaign, not necessarily who is most qualified. Based on McCain's campaign so far, I don't think he's going to win. Surely, Obama won't be as bad as Bush?

Obama will be several times worse than Bush.

Iraq is a debatable issue.

Higher taxes being helpful to an economy is not.

I'm sorry, but Barack Obama will be no worse than Bill Clinton. We all survived those eight hears of gloom and doom. We'll survive an Obama presidency as well. Same goes for if McCain wins. No one will ever be as bad as George W Bush. Not in our lifetimes.

Did you forget about good ole Jihad Jimmy Carter? I don't agree with Bush on alot of things, but Mr. Carter takes this prize hands down.

Just wondering; why do you think the Democratic controlled House and Senate have a lower approval rating than the President?
I always wonder why people on this board bring this number up and act as if it is a positive for republicans
. I'm willing to bet anyone that the dems get a net pickup in congress any takers out there.:)

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. Carter was bad no doubt, but the true damage of the Bush presidency is still unknown. It does seem to get worse everyday. The $700 quadrillionbazillion bailout not withstanding.

the Bush administration had been trying since at least 2003 to regulate Freddie/Fannie. They were also pushing in early 2001 for greater energy independence by exploiting US resources. Seems those two "oil men" in the White House actually knew what they were talking about.

So you might want to get a better understanding of history before you start assigning blame for the trouble we're in now.

For once I agree with you, if the dems had a veto proof majority, then yes I could see how it could be interpreted that way. But that don't, so it can't

Congressional approval ratings never dipped that low during GOP control of both houses, and they never had veto-proof majorities.

Pelosi and Reid are the two reasons why the approval ratings are so low. Other than increasing the minimum wage, what has the Pelosi/Reid led Congress accomplished? Higher gas prices and an economic crisis.

So the democrats get voted into majority on the cusp of an economic crisis, which neither party has done a damn thing to stop, but it's the democrats fault?

The social engineering, which btw Bush is completely in to, is their fault.

if you can blame the President, I can blame Pelosi/Reid. I also pointed out that the President had sought to avert the economic crisis, but democrats like Barney Frank and Chucky Schumer blocked any attempts to restrict fannie/Freddie.

Fair enough.

For the record, and I believe I have said this before, I wouldn't shed a tear if Pelosi and Reid were both voted out tomorrow, along with a few others. That is, of course, assuming that the democrats maintained control. :)

I have no qualms with anyone trashing Pelosi/Reid. I am probably every bit as unhappy with Democratic leadership as most of you are.

For as much criticsm as Bush takes, those 2 people are equally or more corrupt/incompetent than him. I would argue they are far worse.

I think Reid would at least be tolerable if he would grow a pair. Being that harpy's lapdog loses him all points with me.

So do you want to take the bet or not.

ask me on November 3rd. There's still a too much time and the democrats have nearly 6 weeks to suppress military absentee votes, and the folks at ACORN are busy registering dead people.
