It provided a necessity for its time.
But like most government run operations, when it comes to business it can't compete. But also unlike the government, FedEx,UPS.... have to make a profit. The government will keep operating and pull the money from somewhere else.
To borrow a quote from you
YES!!!
Because people got families to feed, businesses can just take advantage of that and provide little to no safety. Give me a break... If the company isn't taking care of its employees, the government has every right to take care of its voters, its citizens.
by your sig, i know where you stand... let the private sector bosses just run over everybody. you have the money to get around it. most of us don't
have you read all my posts... WHAT HAS BEEN THE ONLY OPTION IN THIS COUNTRY FOR THE LONGEST TIME FOR MAIL???? THE POSTAL SERVICE. THat my friend is a success story. This is pure lunacy. By that measure, tribal governments in Afghan land are successful.

that can go both ways, buddy... I"m glad the way I think pisses you off because there's not a dang thing you can do about it. :salute:you have no clue what my sig means
unless you mean "Greed is Good" over my Exxon avatar. I'm glad it bothers you, I'm even more tickled that there's not a damn thing you can do about it.

You'll never admit it because it's government though.
when it was the only option, that could mean it was ahead of its time. Sorry, it was a success story.I feel confident that everyone will admit the USPS is successful when it is the only option. At least I concede that point
good for you... maybe you have the means... the west virginia coal miners said they didn't feel safe due to a lack of safety precautions taken by the company. What makes you think the government would provide anymore safety? You obviously trust someone you have never met a WHOLE lot more than I plan to.
I will leave my job right NOW, if I feel like my employer is putting me in a position where I can not defend my health.

could they just move on? maybe. or maybe the had no other option but to stick it out since that's the only thing they were qualified to do.

You have no clue of the plight of those people, and nor do I.
Given the choice, now, I bet they would move on. Oh wait, they're dead, thanks to a company that ignored safety regulations.
