Private Sector screwing up

and you've provided what exactly? A stirring defense of big government intrusion into the private sector?
by your sig, i know where you stand... let the private sector bosses just run over everybody. you have the money to get around it. most of us don't

lets see, take a poll on a TENNESSEE message board.... HMMMMM, which was is this going, :good!:

What? I said you pick the voters, on this site. You floated more BS and I gave you a chance to prove it. You blinked.

It provided a necessity for its time.

But like most government run operations, when it comes to business it can't compete. But also unlike the government, FedEx,UPS.... have to make a profit. The government will keep operating and pull the money from somewhere else.

To borrow a quote from you

Ummmmmmmmmm, when something blows up, it's only logical to look at safety first

the argument was whether or not it was successful... only recently has it not been. If I start a company and it lasts for 200-something years, pretty sure I'll take that everytime

This is pure lunacy. By that measure, tribal governments in Afghan land are successful.

YES!!!

Because people got families to feed, businesses can just take advantage of that and provide little to no safety. Give me a break... If the company isn't taking care of its employees, the government has every right to take care of its voters, its citizens.

What makes you think the government would provide anymore safety? You obviously trust someone you have never met a WHOLE lot more than I plan to.

I will leave my job right NOW, if I feel like my employer is putting me in a position where I can not defend my health.

I feel confident that everyone will admit the USPS is successful when it is the only option. At least I concede that point

aren't you the one that said josh bone over bobby maze??? hahahahahahhahahahaha

or that Pearl couldn't get UT past the sweet 16??? hahahahahah

For a people that make a career out of telling you what you want to here, and then doing what ever serves their purpose, there sure are a lot of people that trust politicians.

As opposed to trusting themselves.

when it was the only option, that could mean it was ahead of its time. Sorry, it was a success story.

Now, in its current form, it's not. I'll gladly go the private sector route.

I would as well.

Maybe the government should pull the others in and make them part of the USPS?

Maybe the next move.

good for you... maybe you have the means... the west virginia coal miners said they didn't feel safe due to a lack of safety precautions taken by the company.

could they just move on? maybe. or maybe the had no other option but to stick it out since that's the only thing they were qualified to do.

tell you what, why don't you show us some government-run coal mines that have exemplary safety records.

I have to go to work now, when I come back, I hope to see that you've found at least one example.

tell you what, show me the safety records of coal mines before government intervention..

i look forward to your examples

1. So your saying they knew it was dangerous.
2. I don't slam anyone for picking a career. I have worked many types of jobs in my life, from the time I was 12. I moved on to something else when the time come for me to do so. They had/have the same chance I did, and still do.

As to this part. What exactly are implying?

You have no clue of the plight of those people, and nor do I.

Given the choice, now, I bet they would move on. Oh wait, they're dead, thanks to a company that ignored safety regulations.

So in other words, unless they have put a wall around WV, and forced these fellas to mine coal for a living. They could have relocated?

when it was the only option, that could mean it was ahead of its time. Sorry, it was a success story.

It is absurd to pretend a government subsidized outfit, that kept out competitors via government subsidy, was somehow successful as a business.

The bottom line is that the pricing was held artificially low for ages because nobody really questioned governmental largesse. Now that they do, it's clearly a disaster and has been since inception.
