I take middle ground here. I always thought hiring KJH was a risk. Unfortunately, while she's been amazing at restoring culture, she's earned her national reputation for being "consistently underwhelming" in two important areas, winning games against ranked teams and recruiting.
There are million reasons for that, some her fault and many not. It's just hard to look at all available evidence and still be optimistic that KJH will be able to help the program get back to championship level. I want that to happen more than anything bc she's been a fave of mine for years and she seems such a genuine good, caring, ethical person.
In case it doesn't happen, the next hire ( which I believe would be end of next year very earliest) absolutely has to be right. It's a hard decision between not wanting the program to go down any further and not taking a risk on another "project" hire. Replacement does often depend on who's available at that time. In this case it needs to be a home run hire and it can't take a long time or it will look like no one wants the job or we're not willing to pay and things will be even worse. That's a very tall AD order.
We can bloviate all day about firing now, but in real life there have to be viable replacement candidates.
