Proud of the way Nico played

Showed a lot of heart, but he cant read a defense to save his life. He has Gaurantano level pocket awareness. Has no clue where blitzers are coming from, who his hot is, etc. Going to get himself killed if he doesnt improve drastically.

Verdict is still out. Arch Manning isn't lighting it up either. There are some QBs that start out elite right away but that is very rare. Most QBs don't come along until later on. Who heard of Johnny Manziel or Cam Newtwo until their junior years for example?

Nico ( rolls eyes ) the JG 2. 9 mill and gets a 100 yards pleaseeee. It’s not all on him I know. Doesn’t see the field WHEN receivers get open or over throws. He might want to see if a smaller school Kent State like has an opening. Only promise land he will lead us to is wait till next year. Can’t even begin to discuss how much effort the fans put in and how little effort the team had last night. Not all on the players. Coaches have to bear the burden also. Hate seeing the team get dominated.
If it is not all on him then why comment. How much of that 2.9 mill is your contribution. Easy to be critical of one player and point out faults from the chair. We had a deer in the Headlight look last night and really no game plan. Nico did whatever the Staff called on him to do. We seem to have a prep problem and that is on the staff, not the players.
I think most of the defense issues in the LB area and Schemes.

Just body language. Pay me just another game. Offense did what I expected under 20 points ( again ) Defense needs more Al Wilson’s. Simply no heart. When the competition stepped up we took a back seat.
Body language not there with 3 weeks of prep. Agree. Seems to be CJH's Achilles heel. OL/DL got manhandled. Caught OSU at the wrong time as well. That does not excuse the simple
10 -15 yard down and out completions at their will against our defense or the baited over the top TDs. We don't have the LB corps to do this and have been exposed against GA and OSU.
Culture was there but got lost in the shadows of the big game.

Nico's play was no where near the worse on the field. In fact, I felt like he was one of the few players that was out there trying to ball out and keep us in the game.

Honestly, most of it was our defense which put us in a BIG HOLE.

That would be nice but we're still building the talent pool needed to get there.
We lost to Nebraska 42-17 in the Orange Bowl and won the NC the next year.
I agree with the talent pool.
We were out schemed both Offensively and Defensively last night.

I am not. Dude didn’t complete a pass in the first quarter and barely broke a hundred yards. He tried, which is more than you could say about most of the team and especially that cowardly coaching staff, but the fact that people watched that performance and came away feeling proud of Nico tells you all you need to know about how he ain’t the guy.

I agree with your point, but Manziel won the Heisman as a redshirt freshman.

Evidently he is because the HC seems to disagree with you.
He will either speed up his game or be gone.

Hard to complete passes when you're running for your life. Receivers need to abandon their route and try to get open when the QB is under duress. One particular play I remember, Nico was again under pressure and Bishop found an open spot and made himself available. Nico threw a perfect pass, but Bishop got blasted from behind and couldn't hold on to the ball. QB has to have an open receiver to throw to when the defense is chasing him.

He certainly has a way to go. He seems afraid to turn it loose. He needs to trust what he sees and let it rip. Ball has to come out quicker. Way quicker.

I just hope the segment of this fan base that feels the need to show their idiocy publicly is the tiny minority.

Damn, CJH needs to bring you in ASAP for more of this kind of next level insight.

We were indeed out schemed, and there was a significant talent gap. Fulmer very rarely out coached anyone still breathing. He won with deep talent across the board, skill positions and the lines. Our talent level is improving but it's not top level yet.

That kid left everything on that field.

We just have to get some more athletic guys around him. Receivers can't get seperation and linemen couldn't sustain blocks.

On the other side of the ball man the LBs looked slow. Against the two most talented teams we faced, it was pretty clear in both games which team had more athletes.
