Public confidence in the military is slipping

Military wasn’t slipping under Trump. Thank you Biden voters, for making our military weak again. 😡
Yep the MIC was a big fan of Trump spending. Unfortunately a buildup in weapons will inevitably lead to someone wanting to shoot them

I would rather have weapons and not use them than not have them and need them. Fighting the temptation to go to war would probably be better than not being able to fully defend ourselves.

Preach. Such a shame what this administration has done with confidence in the military.
Here is what I know as of now. I have a friend over in Saudi Arabia, stationed there for a year, helping move equipment into Ukraine. He tells me that the Biden administration has them so unorganized, that they don’t know their orders. It’s so much confusion going on. They’re all ready to come home, that’s how bad it is. The morale and confidence is so down over there he says.

Outside of the Coast Guard or joining the AF or Navy to learn a highly technical skill I would discourage any young person from joining the military right now.

My son signed up under Trump. Confidence, pride, reward, etc were high at the time. His service was delayed until after college. He's about to start soon and is committed 4-6 years. I wouldn't have encouraged him to join if he made the decision under Biden because I would've been concerned. I also avoid discussing my political opinions so I don't demoralize him since it's his duty serve the same under any CIC. There's a big difference in how Trump made the military feel and how this administration does. Enlistment has to be down.

But yet the organization was there, the morale, confidence of what they were doing was there. Better be worried. Trump built a strong military. Don’t forget, the tariffs was bringing money back to us. He was going to pay billions back into that. Also, don’t forget, he used China’s money to help the farmers, not ours.

Pascals wager with tanks and planes

We have plenty to defend ourselves as is mandated. What you describe is the weapons makers getting their hands in the pot.

Trump spending made Dems jealous. You are backwards on the tariffs, they were crap.

The military was not strong it's just bloated. Not much difference in the actual actions taken. The ability of the military to do a task hasn't changed just the marketing did

I wouldn't consider anything in the military particularly strong right now.

Military spending =/= strength. For two years (under Trump) I personally watched the process of "deploying" a weapons system that was supposed to replace a three or four decade old system currently in use. The project was backed by hundreds of millions in spend and since its start around 2010, it continually had funding re-upped (including under Trump) and only two prototypes have hit service with one of them busting apart and failing miserably. I believe this project is still ongoing with no large-scale deployments.

Defense "spending" is by and large just graft and kickbacks to retired military officers that few people have the nuts to question.

How was the tariffs crap? The military was strong, our economy was coming back, and jobs were filling in like there wasn’t a tomorrow. There wasn’t any wars in 4 years. Billions were coming back in on tariffs, it was helping our coal, Steele plants, and farmers. Our oil was no.1 in the world. Our military was strong. No one would mess with them, and if they would’ve, Trump would’ve blasted them out of the water sooner or later. Gas and oil was down. I remember 99 cents on the board at our Walmart. The lowest it got under Trump was 79 cents. Man, come on. Tariffs would’ve helped build our cities, roads, and bridges back up. Our country was about to change to get rich again. Now, we’re in dire straights again. Biden has left us in a pinch. He is destroying everything that we were enjoying under Trump.

I agree, there's some dirt in the spending but the CIC is like a good coach. You have to convince the team they can win and that you are in the trenches with them. It's my understanding some of those spending increases were being pass along to increase enrollment. Adding things like the Space Force and discussing intentions to modernize weaponry after aging under Obama goes a long way in increasing morale. Bringing in SJW to lecture soldiers and demonize groups do not. Getting 13 blown up on the way out the door in Afghanistan do not.

gas was 79 cents? On what planet?

The tariffs hurt American consumers. The economy was not really on solid ground and was going to hurt very soon. Trump's 4th year was a disaster

There has been very little change to the military besides the marketing from the top. Didn't mean he was telling you the truth. Looks like you bought into a lot of the propaganda

I don't disagree that morale is a big part of military success. The problem is Trump didn't do much to root out the weakening, cancerous waste in the military and the defense industry. Whether he actually could have or not I'm not judging on- the reality is he didn't.

Our Walmart where I lived. It was 79 cents. The economy was on solid ground. There was 7 million jobs created, and there would’ve been more if he was still into office. The tariffs weren’t crap. Countries were paying on their products. Billions were rolling in. The debt with China on the debt clock was rolling backwards rally fast. The trillion clock was slowing down. After covid hit, yeah, it went back down as he was trying to fix all of that. I don’t know where you get all of this at, but I can tell you our gas and oil that he was selling to other countries was bringing in billions as well. If he would’ve continued as president now, we wouldn’t be seeing this inflation, and our country would be flying right now economically.

Thanks I meant *morale not *moral. That was laziness on my part.
