Pundit's Prognostications (merged)

I don't disagree with anything-- except the score.

The Gators have had two weeks to prepare, they'll come out and pound and pound some more. Jeff Driskel will have a decent game, and the Florida D, embarrassed by the Alabama game, will overcome a few mistakes to come up with a few big stops in the second half.

And the Vols will still win.

My concern is not just that the gators had 2 weeks to prepare. It's that, coupled with the fact that our defense could be worn down from the pounding Gurley provided all game. Plus the emotional energy our guys left on the field. The one good thing about that is so many of those guys were freshmen, so they aren't as experienced at having to endure those hard losses, so should be able to rebound mentally. But the physical toll could be a factor against a team that is fresh.

Still, I believe our guys find a way to win.

Well both real teams we have played both scored over 30 on our defense so its possible

No, OU scored 24 on our D and GA scored 28. Both teams benefited from a defensive TD, although GAs was of course basically gift wrapped.

I give the Gators at least a 50% shot at scoring a TD on defense or special teams, but that still means their offense has to score one more field goal on our D in Neyland than Oklahoma did in Norman. Nothing about the Gators' performance for the past three years suggests they will be able to do that.

Still, I look at this game as even, and the odds makers agree. UFs d line is legit, and our O line is not. Worley could easily get hurt, and our run game may get stuffed. OTOH if the O line takes a step forward our passing game could easily blow up the gators...

Decent team vs a sub par team

No excuse for UT losing

Unless this is the week UF starts clicking. Just like the stock market, past performance does not mean future performance will be this same.

If Florida gets it figured out we could be in trouble. Hopefully they don't get their issues fixed while playing us like Auburn did a few years ago. I have seen too many UT games when we should have won but didn't.

I will wait and see. Many folks on here are setting themselves up for huge disappointment should we lose.

Agreed on past performances - although that is what half the prognosticators are basing their picks on, and (frankly) it is the primary reason why I'm tensed up going into Saturday. A hill always looks taller when you're climbing it than when you're sitting on top, right?

Oregon Ducks, Ball State Cardinals among best Week 6 bets -- College Football - ESPN

Tennessee Volunteers (-2.5) versus Florida Gators

Will Muschamp's opponents have covered the number at a better than 60 percent clip since he arrived in Gainesville. We endorsed this matchup as one of the best early summer numbers back when the Gators were a small favorite, and we still like Tennessee at the new price. A near miss at Georgia leaves the Vols with the expected 2-2 September record and plenty of confidence heading into the matchup that the fan base pointed toward all offseason as the game that would really define the progress of Butch Jones' second-year regime. The improvement is evident, especially from quarterback Justin Worley, and the Vols are ready to snap a nine-game series losing streak against a Gators squad that's struggling in all three phases.

ATS pick: Tennessee 31, Florida 24

Many on this board thought 2 years ago was our year .. not so much so I don't understand why anyone is crucified for saying Florida wins.

Based on how Driskel has played this season, I am not worried about him. He has made bad decision after bad decision. I'm also sick of hearing people refer to his performance in the 2012 game. UF has fallen a loooong way since that game and Dooley isn't running through that T Saturday. Vols by 2 scores.
