I'll bite.

So you're saying that you don't think that Putin was the reason behind their imprisonment? That you don't think LG has socialistic tendencies? That you aren't an advocate of guns and the bible?

Throwing out a joke at the end of a crazy post in the same crazy tone isn't really going to get a lot of laughs. You can understand why I did not properly infer the joke since, you know, you seem like a right wing gun nut and that phrase didn't seem out of the ordinary. My bad!

Oh no, I was serious, deadly serious. If you knew the joke, you would know how serious. Just because one uses the punch line of a joke to make a point doesn't mean one is trying to be funny. Maybe I should have said fable.....does that make you feel better?

There are parts of America where, shockingly, culture is of some actual value.

there's plenty of culture available that doesn't require taxpayer funding

and before you confuse yourself again, I'm not saying individual, voluntary financial support of the arts should be eliminated, in fact, it should be encouraged. Much more so than having your money confiscated and used to provide welfare for starving saxaphone players.

Your idea would pull the entire annual budget of the National Endowment for the Arts. Let that sink in for a moment, then ask if I'm confusing myself again.

You've already made it very clear that you don't think our government should be involved in any sort of cultural funding.

Forget that federal investment in the arts sustains 6 million jobs. Forget the additional revenue generated via investment in the arts. Let's just ignore on that.

You don't think arts and culture are important enough to warrant government funding. That's sad.

You gonna need to link that.

so you're implying that somehow the investment pays for itself, but the government needs to keep paying for it?

If it isn't self sustaining, we definitely need to ignore it. It's effectively 6 million welfare gigs otherwise. Surely we can do it cheaper by not pretending that it represents jobs.

Why ignore it, again?

why does taxpayer funding automatically make it "culture"?

Are you actually going to try and make the point that PBS, NPR and the arts don't contribute to culture? It's all about education and enlightenment... free thinking if you will.

Arts and culture are the cornerstone of a society.

according to your stats those 6 million jobs pay about $100 a year each. Don't think it all adds up.

From the article:
Federal arts and culture spending is currently about $1.6 billion a year, not counting construction budgets. The legislation does not call for cuts to the annual budgets for the Smithsonian Institution ($761.4 million), the Institute of Museum and Library Services ($282.3 million), the National Gallery of Art ($167 million) or the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (about $20 million).

All those organizations except the IMLS offer performances and exhibitions -- free, in the case of the Smithsonian's museums and the National Gallery -- that might be seen as a perk of living in Washington, D.C.; grants from the NEA and NEH are national in scope.

I guess the museums, the NGA, and the performing arts center aren't cultured enough for you?

The NEA and the NEH are welfare programs, they need to go.

Retarded. The moonshine running idiots can argue that they represent culture too. Subjective silliness doesn't warrant taxpayer money.

Spare us the silly culture lectures. Anything can be misconstrued as culture. Art is opinion and doesn't warrant federally mandated spending.

You're free to consider NASCAR to be as culturally beneficial as Shakespeare if you'd like. Unfortunately, it makes you look neither intelligent nor civilized.

I laughed. Double negatives will continue to validate that you're more intelligent, and therefore more cultured, than I. Awesome.
