Butch Jones @ 3:51: I thought Riley had more leadership than any of them but not to our standard by which we're going to play quarterback here at TN.
Now, take that u whiny little *****. fine proof he said it.

Youve got to be smarter than this.
Hes saying that Ferguson showed the most leadership but he still needs to see more leadership. Like hes showing 75% of the amount of leadership that Jones is looking for.... NOT that he doesnt fit the system. Jones is saying NOBODY is showing the standard of leadership that hes looking for, but Fergy is showing the most. You think he would publicly say something so negative about a player to the media that hasnt done anything illegal?

Ferguson had turned the ball over more than anyone else this Spring? You sure about that? Got any data to prove it? Not saying you're wrong, just honestly curious about how you know this for fact. I've read about Worley throwing picks, including 1 that Butch called "catastrophic" that was in the red zone and returned 97 yds for a td. I've heard Dobbs has had issues with multiple fumbles. And yes, we've all heard about a handful of picks from Ferguson. But how can we know who had the most turnovers? I doubt it would be one of the 2 guys who earned team 1 reps but I guess it's possible. Again, any definitive information?
you want to GIVE Dobbs the STARTING spot after 13 inconsistent practices and 1 good scrimmage.
while some of us are saying that Ferguson COULD be the SECOND TEAM guy. he was inconsistent, but was reported to have more good practices.
Very well said. I never understood why so many were hyped up on Fergie to begin withCome on now. I don't know about you personally, POA, but a vocal group of people on Volnation have been hyping up Riley Ferguson as the savior of our program for months now. I think it started when Volquest posted a rumor that Josh Malone committed to UT after watching secret practice video of Ferguson. From there, things went overboard, with people speculating about how Ferguson - and only Ferguson - would scare off 2015 QB prospects, or considering whether it was fair to expect him to perform in the Orange and White game like "Freshman Peyton" or "experienced Peyton."
In putting the brakes on the "Ferg train," we aren't criticizing Ferguson so much as we're criticizing the ridiculous and undeserved hype that was building up around him. That's all.
You cant 100% fault a QB for getting sacked.
Besides, Dobbs had similar games to that last year. Should we write him off too?
How about the Vandy game where he went
11/19 for 53 yards and threw 2 INTs. He was sacked a few times too. Had 11 rushes for 23 yards with a long of 14.
You cant judge QBs based off of 1 performance
That`s all we have to judge him by now and we would have won the Vandy game except for a stupid block in the back by Pig. I did not see anything from Fergy that makes me think he could beat Vandy or Slippery Rock.

Thats what gets me. The speculation, twisted words and straight up lies. VQ said they heard Malone looked at Fergs film. The words directly from Malone's mouth was that the coaches showed him Dobbs, RF and Worley and all looked good to him. Instead of going by what the recruit himself said they chose to keep repeating a "source" over the actual person.
Here are some reports on Riley Ferguson's poor decision-making from the some of the scrimmages before the Orange and White game. These make clear that his horrible performance in that game (3 sacks, 2 turnovers versus the 2nd-string defense) wasn't some kind of aberration:
- (March 13) "All four QBs are inconsistent for different reasons... [With Riley] Ferguson: Decision making... Riley Ferguson made three throws in practice that looked SEC 1st team caliber, but also threw two to the defense that led to 14 points for the other team. If he wants to be the starting quarterback at the University of Tennessee, he must learn to be consistent." Source.
- (March 29) "In an overtime situation with the offense down 3 in overtime, Ferguson, on 1st down, threw the ball up for grabs toward the goal line off his back foot. It was intercepted by Malik Foreman. Butch Jones calmly used that as a teaching moment on the mic for the team with Ferguson standing alone in the middle of the field with him." Source.
- (April 5) "All four quarterbacks had good plays and bad. However, Riley Ferguson was responsible for the two worst plays of the entire scrimmage. He threw a quick out that went right to LB Jalen Reeves-Maybin who picked it off and returned it for about a 30-yard return. In a 'last play of the game' situation from the opponent's 18-yard line, Ferguson scrambled out of the pocket and ran out of bounds instead of throwing the ball into the endzone. Butch Jones screamed at him and then used it as a teaching point to the entire team to know the situation." Source.
IMO, the starting QB position is coming down to Worley and Dobbs. Worley is the favorite for now, but Dobbs has time to convince Butch Jones that our offense has the potential to be more explosive with him than Worley. Ferguson simply hasn't proven that he's ready to play in a pressure situation, so he's a distant 3rd on the depth chart.
People are determining that from the fact reporters said he was having a good spring, emerged as the leader in the QB group, and actually went against the first team D. I don't care who wins the job, I just want to win football games. But for these guys to come on here saying Dobbs is the guy because he had a good spring game is crazy. He never faced the first team defense and he only threw 2 TD's compared to 6 picks in 4 and a half games.
u suck....whine whine whine. man, there sure are soft soft-asses on here. cry every post after if someone either doesn't agree or proves them wrong. quit acting like a little *****
There's literately no whine in my post. I was simply stating what I see. Never showed any disagreement with you in this thread. Now the tone in your post sounds very whinny way. How old are you and what do you do with your life. No respectful person speaks the way you do. Usually when you talk like that you get your teeth knocked out.
