'22 QB IN Tayven Jackson (Tennessee signee)

I’m absolutely not saying he will flip. All I’m saying is that putting all my eggs in one basket kinda worries me.
He’s a COMMIT not an egg. But you have to take care of them just as carefully. You don’t throw a bunch on top of each other cuz they’ll all crack…and you get nothing! I don’t remember Howell’s commitment level to FSU but it seemed he was on omnipresent flip watch BEFORE Mack was hired in Chapel Hill. And it’s a stretch to compare the atmosphere and vibes surrounding Heupel and the ****show Taggart was running in Tallahassee. All that being said, Heupel hasn’t been caught without a plan B (or C and D for that matter) since his hire.

Thanks for straightening out EVERYTHING!

Jackson completed 7 of 16 passes for 100 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions Friday night in Center Grove's 21-6 win over Indianapolis' Cathedral High School on Friday night. The Trojans will have an open date this week before taking on Franklin Central High School of Indianapolis on Oct. 29 in the first round of Indiana's Class 6A playoffs.

He's definitely not going to play right away but he has really good potential. I agree tho that the limited reps worry me a tiny amount
Touchdown to int is good. Tells me he values the ball and isn't turnover prone which can be a harder fix than mechanics. Iron out mechanics with a redshirt and roll.

He’s gonna be a high risk player regardless. He may have talent but he doesn’t have many reps at all playing in that offense. He’s gonna need some seasoning before he’s ready.
Maybe. I'd rather have a qb that values the ball and avoids high risk throws in high school though and should bring that to college opposed to a qb that pushes stupid throws in high school and you waste time breaking that habit in college.

I have talked to a FBS P5 coach who believes we hit a home run with Jackson. He was high on their board. He thinks he is a difference maker. Will need a red shirt, but has all the tools

The timeline with Hooker and Jackson will workout great. HH has another year here, TJ enrolls early so he gets a redshirt season plus the extra spring practices next year, so he gets time to develop and learn BEFORE we actually need him to be QB1. That’s IF HH stays healthy and we have a suitable backup, etc.

All reports are we stole one here.

And the fact that Heupel etc are sold on him and not pursuing anyone else is telling.

I am OF THE OPINION that this staff would extend an offer to another QB, but that the BAR would be very high and this player would have to show a better fit for the system, not just be highly talented and join a pool to go through the yield process. I am betting any near term shortfall created by transfer this year would be offset by using the same portal and that this guy is considered the long term solution.
