QB Quinten Dormady

Just want to add this kid can make the soft tosses as well while scrambling, accurately. Pocket collapses and he can get those extra yards, not afraid to take off if needed. Quick. i know most of you guys are going to say "Yeah, right", but you have to see this kid. His father is the coach of the team. He had mega offers but narrowed his school down to Bama and UT and signed with UT. I didn't even know he was going to UT until I saw the game and then Butch Jones and the other UT coach was there and then I remembered it was an off week so that's why Butch flew down to see him play and he certainly didn't disappoint. He played much better in the second half--that's good to know too. If you have someone who can catch the ball they will be running for awhile.

Good thing you didn't see him play last week when Boerne lost 40-7. Had you seen that game your comparison would be closer to Nick Stephens than Peyton Manning. I hope you're right about him but it's hard to judge a prospect by watching one high school game on TV.

OK guys, finally a post worth posting. I was watching the Boerne (TX) Greyhounds vs Antonian Apaches High school football game on TV Thursday night and who do I see?--QB Quniten Dormady playing for Boerne (pronounced Burn--ee). Coach Butch Jones and another UT coach was there to watch him as he has already signed with UT and graduates in Dec and will be there for the Spring Semester. He is the real deal--think Peyton Manning except much faster, 6'4" and has a rocket for an arm. He scrambled several times and can make plays. He did throw 1 int but the receiver quit on the route. I'm telling you he's raw talent but he has the tools. MVP of the game--yeah, he was--almost 400 yards. It was televised on TV here in San Antonio; he was about all the announcers talked about during the game. Humble kid, but you heard it here first this kid is Peyton Manning II, but better.:dance2:

This is why we can't have nice things.

He threw three picks last week and with 1 tonight he has 8 in 4 games . Two picks per game . He also has 7 carries for a negative 13 yds .... Peyton Manning he's not

Ugh, apparently he has a short memory for bad plays and he moves on. That sounds like a warrior to me.
Peyton...well, we'll see. :)

GO VOLS!

The consensus around those parts is that Dormady basically carries his team on his back. It's hard to not throw interceptions when your receivers can't run the right routes.

Didn't we once say that Tyler Brat had a rocket arm and was like Manning? Just saying.

Butch and saban dont offer a kid coming off a torn labrum unless hes bonafide. Period...or do you armchairs think CBJ and saban aren't as good at identifying talent as you are? SMDH at the arrogance. Is it silly to anoint the kid, or any other player on this planet; as the next Peyton? sure.
Is it stupid to criticize a QB that chose us over bama before he has taken a single snap in orange? sure. I trust our staff to evaluate talent. The kid definitely passes the eye test if you have bothered to watch his film. Got a good arm, scrambles well at least to his right anyway like most righthanded QBs do. Hope he redshirts next year while Peterman plays well then leads us to multiple championships. If you guys don't hope the kid is a baller then you're ignorant because he is the only true QB coming in this class, and will be an EE.

These are ridiculous expectations to put on a 17-year-old kid. I just hope peterman or dobbs improve enough where we don't have to throw the true freshman to the dogs like we did with Worley

Peyton Manning had offers from every college in the country and could have easily gone anywhere he wanted - from Stanford to U of Miami. He is a once in a lifetime type player for a program. His NFL stats are insanely good and he held almost every UT QB record and may SEC QB records when he left after his senior season.

QD may be very good (and I believe he is) - lets just see him in an O/W game first before we retire his number.

Believe what you want and they did mention the ints in past games, I did say he's raw talent but he does have the tools. He managed the game very well in the one I watched, and granted it was only one game. I guess you're also not counting the one he ripped for 21 yards right? Or the 15 yards up the middle. He was sacked a couple of times because the pocket broke down but he never fumbled. Since you didn't see the game I'm sure you are more qualified than me to make a report.

I'm going with you since you actually SAW the game!

good insight!

Thanks for the update. I'm very excited about Dormady. He missed all last yr and is getting back in football shape. And we all know Int's aren't always on QB's, especially in HS. But if Butch and Saban both offered after seeing him throw then I am confident he is a good QB. Keep us updated if you see him play again!

To the OP: Can he read a defense? Was he throwing into double coverage? Is he accurate throwing on the run?
