And it seems to have come at the worst time....

but on the bright side this staff could turn one of these QBs into a great one

Is this the worst year in recruiting history for finding good QBs?

One rivals analyst told me its the worse class since he has been following it. started in 1992........

There will be a hand full that surprise the "experts", just hope one of them is wearing pantone 151.

The overall strength of this year's QB class will become substantially irrelevant when we sign Scroggins.

We must remember, that High School football hasn't even started yet in the majority of the states in the country. There will be more QB prospects that arrive on the radar later when the season starts. And who knows, they could be 5 stars. It happens every year.

JW why have people been so critical of Sab lately?

I said some pretty demonstrative things which I felt strongly were true and a couple of people took issue with the way I posted it as if it were fact. I ended up being correct though.

Haha. People need to realize that pretty much everything posted here is an opinion and not to get pissed if people don't put something like "imo" in a post. And know which posters are usually full of crap, and which know what they are talking about.

Me and Sab don't agree on many issues. But I know how he feels. When your a poster that feels strongly about what you say people will try to blast you a lot. There are posters on here that contribute nothing but post counts to a thread.

I have a lot of respect even for those who disagree with me. That's why I try and keep our discussions civil.

what happens if they snatch Scroggins and Brunetti, let's say, and Rettig or Rees or someone else blows up to the top of the list by far about November 20th? Does CLK kick them to the curb and chase the top guy???

That top guy might fit his model perfectly and those he took early might not by Thanksgiving...

that is the risk he is dealing with chasing QBs in this sub-par market.... be very interesting this fall to track these kids and see if a Matt Barkley emerges...

Thing is Matt Barkley was Matt Barkley in his junior year. He wasn't a sleeper or a late bloomer.

but this class is all late bloomers... if they fit Kiffin's model... like I say, a risk with whomever he takes this summer

Do you honestly see a Matt Barkley in this class, Larry? Matt was identified very early due to his talent. I don't see a QB of that caliber and I would be very surprised to see one emerge that is just heads and shoulders better than the rest like Barkley was.

Barkley was evaluated by Kiffin and OFFERED a scholy when he was a FRESHMAN! He is that good and he is making a run for starting QB at USC as we speak. None of this years class has that type of talent.

That's not to say that the work can't be done to develop these kids into great QBs. Barkley is apparently on another level.

I don't evaluate and if I did I would say no.. :)

Based on what I've heard, no there is not anyone out there that fits that. BUT, the # 1 QB could still be developing and emerge around Thanksgiving. Still might not fit Kiffins model.

No, I doubt a Barkley shows up.

On paper yes, but who really knows. You can have two star guys turn into studs.

Cutler
Chase Daniel
Colt McCoy
List goes on and on of guys who were under evaluated and turned into very good college qbs.
