All I said was, do we bring in one or no?
We don’t want any part of McCord. My Buckeye fan father-in-law who also follows UT told me multiple times this season he wished OSU had Joe. Gabriel is probably scorched earth. Don’t know anything about Vandagriff.Gabriel of Oklahoma. Kyle McCord of Ohio State, and Vandagriff of Georgia. Do we go after any of these? Or do we just leave it alone?
The real issue - what if Nico is not all that?
Saban got Tua to come with Hurts being there. And Mac Jones to show up with BOTH of them at Bama?I blamed him for taking us into this season with Milton. Pretty much a similar situation. No one would come knowing Milton and Nico were on the roster. Don't get me wrong, I know he's a players coach and why he did it, but it still hurt us at times this year.
I hope Nico is great. It seems like he has the tools . . . But as you aptly point out here . . . So did Milton. If Nico doesn’t pan out . . . I don’t really see we have another option??This is the problem with the corruption that is NIL. Everybody is throwing big money at top prospects assuming they'll just be great at the next level. About half of the top 100 players are not great at the major college level. Hell, Milton had Heupel and many other coaches salivating over the guy coming out of high school. Physically, he had off-the-charts potential. And? And he starts a few games for Michigan, does not play well, gets benched, loses his job. Heupel still salivates over the guy, brings him to UT, starts him...and then he and we see that, actually, Hooker was better. Milton gets his shot this year--and while the potential is still there, he didn't exactly excel. There's no telling how much NIL boosters would have given that guy....and then not a good return on investment. And all the NIL idiocy just makes life even more complicated for coaches, I would think. They're forced to make hard decisions, especially if some highly lauded prospect--at any position---doesn't quite look like he'll meet expectations once they've seem him on the practice fields. Nico could be great, I hope he is, but this idea that fans should be selling the family farms so they can donate NIL money to their school to land some hot prospects is sheer insanity.
If they weren't good enough to start for their current program what are the odds they come in here as a game changer? There are outliers of course but I would imagine the odds aren't great. Gabriel would be a good fit here, if Nico doesn't like it then there's 2 options 1. Beat him out. 2. Transfer and someone else can pick up his 2 million dollar tab.A lot of really good QBs enter after Spring Game because they won't be the starter for their current team. There could be a Carson Beck waiting for SB to move on for some other team.
