As one of those believer types I find it odd that people question the snake thing. Its easily explained. Christ refers to Satan as the great snake of old. Hey, sounds like a metaphor.

Sorry, that was a poor attempt at humor. You might recall I used this term on you a week ago when we were discussing what it means to be Catholic. It means Baptist/Catholic.
