question about Christianity

Either you a) do not understand what is meant by a literal approach to the Bible or b) are trying to leave others here with a misconception of what it means.

If you want to be specific then we can discuss it... but like I said, the explanations by serious scholars are easily found by anyone interested in hearing the other side and not accepting your opinion as established fact.

I completely understand what the phrase "literal approach" means; and, you are absolutely wrong. That is the bottom line, no matter how you try to shake this out.

I may be wrong about any of a number of things... but not simply because you declare it to be so.

Was that an admission that you were trying to mislead people?

I did not mislead anyone; have fun trying to twist my words and the meaning of the term "literal" to fit your religious viewpoint. I, on the other hand, will continue to use terms correctly and continue to state that the Bible either must be taken allegorically or inconsistently (inconsistent texts cannot be truthful, by the way).

Enjoy your denial.

I like the shape-note singing at the snake Presbyterian churches. Sounds crazy, a refreshing take on chorale music.

I dont lean on my own understanding to many parts of the Bible. After I get off the judgement seat, i'll ask Moses to show me how the world was formed.

I just found this thread, I know I am late to the party.

Here is my 2 cents:

Gen 2 does not contradict Gen 1, it supplements it. Gen 2 simply gives a more detailed accounting of the creation of man, the planting of the garden and the populating of the garden with animals. It is not trying to tell the creation of the earth over again, it simply elaborates somewhat about day 6.

Second, some on here have claimed that magic and miracle are the same. I googled synonym magic and took the top six entries and looked at them. I didn't cherrypick and none of them listed miracle as a synonym. It would seem that the language experts disagree with you.

bump, any buyers paul was a double agent for rome.............makes sense......

Question: I saw a church sign yesterday that said, "Even Peter can go from hero to zero." What does that reference?

Lol. Now it all makes sense. Although, I don't think that sign would help bring anyone into the church... I've seen some pretty funny and ridiculous ones around here.
