How is Kiffin getting all the best portal recruits????? Looks like Walter Nolan is projected is to go there. They snagged Baron and Madonald from us and the #1 defensive end from Florida. Like the guy or not he can recruit not to mention the WR from South Carolina.... Makes our commits look weak compaired to the Rebs. Deep pockets in Oxford I guess....

If you are a Vol fan why do you care what Lame Kitten is doing? He learned how to cheat at recruiting from the best in the business. Shouldn’t surprise you. Also, it’s obvious the Ole Miss fans and collective are serious about wanting to win unlike our fan base and Spyre.

I think this topic deserves its own thread. I think it's valid to have this conversation separate from having to post in one of the other threads and have to compete with news and updates.

Here is a quote from a post I made earlier:

"I'm very curious to know what these Ole Miss players are getting. Considering it has already been reported that one of their transfer targets didn't read the fine print about visiting schools, I wouldn't be surprised if some details were missed.

For example, there is a case for a player from the Chicago Bears who is going through the legal process becuase they signed a deal while at Florida that stated he would have to forfeit a percentage of his earnings for the rest of his NFL career to give back to the NIL company. I wouldn't be surprised if Kiffin, [EDIT: or an NIL company representing Ole Miss] is structuring some of these deals with shady stuff like this. It simply doesn't make sense that Ole Miss is able to offer more on every single one of these players. For one or two that they covet, sure. But to outbid the rest of college football on anyone they want seems too good to be true."

Jimbo made the same big bet as Kiffin. It didn’t work out well. Now it’s a little different because Kiffin is bringing in veterans, but that’s not sustainable. So he either cashes in and wins big next year or one after or likely burns out. I just don’t see any Kiffin team making it through a field of twelve.

Is it sustainable? Maybe not. But can it lead to an overall better product to sell young recruits on? Maybe so.

I think what some have yet to notice, is that Kiffin has been active in the Portal the last 2 seasons in addition to this one. In 2022 he had the #2 Transfer Portal class and in 2023 the #3 class. This year he has the #1 class. So he has been at this for a few years, but slowly getting more and more successful at recruiting bigger targets.

At the same time Ole Miss has been able to build up to a 10-2 team this past season with a chance at 11 wins. Winning a national championship is not the only barometer of success. Getting in the new playoff system will be a good bar and a new selling point to tell recruits to take that next step.

They play 6 of the 8 sec teams we play…only difference is they get Lsu and South Carolina and we have Bama along with Vandy…will be interesting to see where each of us finishes with nearly identical schedules

And with all the talent he’s accruing, he won’t sniff a SEC championship. Another A&M without a huge buyout.

QB: Dart
RB: Judkins
WR: Juice / Tre Harris (800 yards this year)
TE:
OL: Williams

DL: Ivey / Walter Nolen / Pegues / Johnson
Plus Baron and the FL guy on the DL
LB: They can return all their LBs plus Chris Paul
Secondary: they bring a couple back plus added a few from the portal

If he can figure out the OL, they will go 10-2 / 11-1 next year.

His high school recruiting is not that good ... Tennessee's class of 2024 is clearly better.

Their collective is obviously throwing a lot of money around at players in the portal.

And it seems like you think Baron and McDonald are better than they really are. Those are not significant losses for Tennessee.

One thing you have to know is, Kiffin will not be able to compete with these bigger schools on the recruiting trail itself. So he will build his team out of the portal every year. Its what hes going to have to do. Not a bad way to consistently go 9-3 - 10-2 every year.

Transfers do appear to be their main focus. That could be hard to sustain. The amount of talent in the portal will fluctuate from year to year. Talent coming from high school is more of a constant.

I'm beginning to feel that Spyre aint all it's cracked up to be. Our only hope is that Heupel/Spyre are playing some type of 3D chess and has us all fooled with something up his sleeve.

LOL.

We definitely didn't miss on Seaton because of the NIL offer from Spyre. I'm not sure we've missed on anyone because of Spyre. Why do so many posters assume this?
