Well... the FACT is that you or anyone else on this board have exactly ZERO idea what Spyre offered or didn't. All this "he was offered...blah, blah, blah" is speculation. Plain and simple. So... LOL all you want.LOL.
We definitely didn't miss on Seaton because of the NIL offer from Spyre. I'm not sure we've missed on anyone because of Spyre. Why do so many posters assume this?
How is Kiffin getting all the best portal recruits????? Looks like Walter Nolan is projected is to go there. They snagged Baron and Madonald from us and the #1 defensive end from Florida. Like the guy or not he can recruit not to mention the WR from South Carolina.... Makes our commits look weak compaired to the Rebs. Deep pockets in Oxford I guess....

It will create a Yo-Yo effect with their performance, much like the 1&Done did in basketball….IE see Kentucky/Dook. Every now and then this strategy will create lightening in a bottle and win NC But a lot of years it will just be disappointment in what could have been.Transfers do appear to be their main focus. That could be hard to sustain. The amount of talent in the portal will fluctuate from year to year. Talent coming from high school is more of a constant.
My opinion is you build a program from high school recruiting. Your NIL can pay everyone what there worth as they grow in the system. If an upperclassmen gets hurt or underachieves replace him with a portal player that way you can build a great culture. If you bring in these big headed premadonna Portal players that like showing off and talking about what they got from NIL then there's gonna be a bad culture....Is it sustainable? Maybe not. But can it lead to an overall better product to sell young recruits on? Maybe so.
I think what some have yet to notice, is that Kiffin has been active in the Portal the last 2 seasons in addition to this one. In 2022 he had the #2 Transfer Portal class and in 2023 the #3 class. This year he has the #1 class. So he has been at this for a few years, but slowly getting more and more successful at recruiting bigger targets.
At the same time Ole Miss has been able to build up to a 10-2 team this past season with a chance at 11 wins. Winning a national championship is not the only barometer of success. Getting in the new playoff system will be a good bar and a new selling point to tell recruits to take that next step.
No, I definitely never saw any "reports" that said Nico Iamaleava was getting $8 million a year. Please post a link to one of them for us.You can post all the "reports" you want to. I doesn't make it true. Remember when it was "reported" that Nico was getting $8M a year???? Riiight.
It’s not insane. The guy told you what he was going to do. Ole Miss is focusing their NIL towards the portal. Kiffin said coaches were going to eventually stop recruiting high school as much as recruiting the portal and getting more mature better players. Portal you at least know a little more about how a player will translate. We’ll see how it works out though. This can all fall apart in the lockerroom if your current players aren’t taken care of as well.Idk, what Kiffin is doing in the portal is pretty insane and worthy of an independent thread/discussion imo
Kudos to OM. They have a weaker schedule and are pushing their chips to the middle. They’ll be really good on offense and trying to field an average defense to give them a chance.
