You think so? They play @ LSU and Florida .... with Oklahoma and Georgia at home. I guess it will depend heavily on how good Florida is.
The new SEC is going to have tough games in every schedule. But compare theirs to UF. Avoid Bama. Georgia at home. LSU was not a good team without Daniel’s and he’s going pro. UF is a 5 win team. Oklahoma is a weaker opponent than Texas

Much like baseball, small market teams won't spend money unless they know they see a chance to make a run at the playoffs. Tennessee/Spry could be holding some coin for the next 2nd and 3rd years of Nico starting. Getting to the top 12 in 2024 is going to be difficult given we have both Georgia and Bama on the schedule. So it wouldn't be wise to drop empty out the entire war chest for 2024. 2025 could be the year they start unloading the accounts on the top level portal talent. Kiffin may see 2024 as the year they could peak and get over the Hump, and Ole Miss actually might have the easiest SEC schedule next at least on paper.

I have wondered wth is going on in Oxford on the transfer portal. You can rebuild a team in a year if you get enough proven veterans from other teams. Could their be locker issues? Perhaps. It's just odd for Ole Miss to be considered a great landing spot. What is the pitch?

How is Kiffin getting all the best portal recruits????? Looks like Walter Nolan is projected is to go there. They snagged Baron and Madonald from us and the #1 defensive end from Florida. Like the guy or not he can recruit not to mention the WR from South Carolina.... Makes our commits look weak compaired to the Rebs. Deep pockets in Oxford I guess....
**** kiffin
This love affair with him needs to be done

If you are a Vol fan why do you care what Lame Kitten is doing? He learned how to cheat at recruiting from the best in the business. Shouldn’t surprise you. Also, it’s obvious the Ole Miss fans and collective are serious about wanting to win unlike our fan base and Spyre.
What are you basing this comment on? Just because a coaching staff is being selective on who they go after doesn’t mean they, our fanbase, or Spyre isn’t serious about winning. There’s been multiple sources cited on this website stating TN has some of the best NIL operations out there. So just because we didn’t go after a big time guy who’s been described as toxic, like Nolan, or let someone who doesn’t want to be here, like Baron, go, doesn’t mean we aren’t doing our due diligence.

Jimbo made the same big bet as Kiffin. It didn’t work out well. Now it’s a little different because Kiffin is bringing in veterans, but that’s not sustainable. So he either cashes in and wins big next year or one after or likely burns out. I just don’t see any Kiffin team making it through a field of twelve.
This will be two years running that Kiffin has beaten just about everyone in the Portal. And they are 10-2 . No reason He can't sustain it.

No, I definitely never saw any "reports" that said Nico Iamaleava was getting $8 million a year. Please post a link to one of them for us.

What has been reported by Sports Illustrated came directly from Jordan Seaton's family. I guess when you have too much pride to admit when you're wrong .... you can always just call people liars.
Who called anyone a liar? Ignorance is different from lying. Here is a "report" regarding his "$8 Million" deal. I have ZERO confidence he's getting that kind of money, no matter what the report says. Either which way... UT had better start picking up wrt recruiting.

Ole Miss always has more playing opportunity for transfers because they can’t recruit for **** from the high school ranks.

Where does it say $8 million a year? The reporting was that his NIL deal was worth $8 million ... Sure .... but not $8 million a year.

Is it sustainable? Maybe not. But can it lead to an overall better product to sell young recruits on? Maybe so.

I think what some have yet to notice, is that Kiffin has been active in the Portal the last 2 seasons in addition to this one. In 2022 he had the #2 Transfer Portal class and in 2023 the #3 class. This year he has the #1 class. So he has been at this for a few years, but slowly getting more and more successful at recruiting bigger targets.

At the same time Ole Miss has been able to build up to a 10-2 team this past season with a chance at 11 wins. Winning a national championship is not the only barometer of success. Getting in the new playoff system will be a good bar and a new selling point to tell recruits to take that next step.

To me it sounds similar to how Cal used WWW in his early days at Kentucky eventhough Kentucky was a blue blood.

Before we crown Kiffin the recruiting champion of the world.

Can we acknowledge that they'll still not have a top 8 roster in the SEC? And certainly won't have a >50% blue chip ratio.

Maybe Kiffin makes the playoffs by running the SEC equivalent of the island of misfit toys, but I do think people are overreacting a bit.

He would have to actually beat a decent team. The guy for all the talk of being a great coach has an abysmal record vs the top 25 teams he plays. Heupel already has a better record. Kiffin has one impressive win in all his years of coaching when he beat Oregon. Honestly I just do not get why people think he’s some great coach.

Ole miss has been landing a lot of big fish in the portal lately, and some of those guys are players TN didn’t necessarily want to blow the bank on (Juice Wells, Baron). So are they really getting paid more at Ole Miss? If so where the heck are they getting the money? Mississippi is not exactly a state with money to burn.

My theory is that with the light of the recent news regarding the Blind Side Movie and Michael Oher, that the Tuohy family is liquidating their assets and pouring it into recruiting. Maybe they figure if they’re going to go down they might as well try to build a playoff football team at Ole Miss as a consolation prize, and then they’ll have nothing left for anyone to sue them for.

Seriously though, there's crazier theories out there.

might as well cancel season, and declare ole miss national champions.
Is anyone declaring them national champions? They are a 10-2 team that is finding a way to try and improve themselves despite having a disadvantage to other SEC powehouses in high school recruiting.

I'm sure most will still have Bama, Texas, and Georgia ahead of them in preseason rankings.
