Quit with the moral victory bs

I'm with OP. The "moral victory" is a tired act. I want to see a real victory.

Well I and the rest of the crowd don't. We get warm fuzzies about moral victories. It's not that better play against quality opponents is actually pointing to the improvement we desire. We just want to come close.

It's not like we want or expect to win one day.

<sarcasm>

We were all proud of dooley his first year vs LSU and we all know the story. Look, it was a great game, that doesnt change the fact that UT lost and had a huge defensive meltdown at the end of regulation. Still waiting for something to be excited about.

Yes let them go 80 yards with under 2 n 1 timeout. Then stupid penalties in the red zone where is the discipline..,? That cost u games but they r getting a pass n if that would have been a few years ago n foster did that he would be receiving death threats..

Now that how far we have fallen...... Felt a little like lsu 2.0 but we will see if we take down SC n then that shows me they r getting better n learning how to close it out..

Any way u look at it that was a huge opportunity wasted either by shear back luck at the end or bone head plays by our Def at the end of the game.. U decide n I have we r still a bad team that got better n the second half

This wasn't a moral victory. It was the first well played game the Vols have had in years against a ranked opponent. This is a measuring stick to gauge how far this program has come in just 5 short weeks.

I'm definitely not on the BLAME THE REF'S! bandwagon....But some of those penalties during UGA's last drive were more than questionable.

This team found way to grasp loss from jaws of victory

It was not victory

Shaking things up there "hating on Bama"??? Must be like my brother says..."I'm a fan...I don't have to be intelligent or know anything about football to scream ridiculous stuff at the team yada, yada, yada"...and my response is always the same...THAT'S YOU MY BROTHA, THAT'S YOU....have yo fun there "hating"

The bottom line is Tennessee turned a corner yesterday. The loss hurt but they looked good for the first time in ages. We saw considerable improvement and the Vols deserved to win even if they didn't. Those kids should be proud of how they played. They should be mad about the loss but hold their heads up. I tell you this, if they play the rest of the games on the schedule like they played last night, they are going bowling.

No such thing as a moral victory. It's a win or a loss, but this team took some huge steps and if you refuse to see that, then you just refuse to see reality. We cannot take a bunch of steps backward, either, but I feel encouraged after this game, unlike I would have with Dooley on the sideline worrying about shower etiquette and comparing our players to German soldiers.

What I find amusing about all of these "Moral Victory" threads is that the only people I see using that term are the people complaining about it.

Shows me the true stupidity of people who can't understand the difference in what they call fans saying it's a moral victory and the truth of the situation which is fans can still be proud of how their team played......even in defeat.

I completely trashed the moral victory folks last night, but now that I'm sober I'm seeing things a little differently. Last night was an overwhelming positive for this program and could very well mark the beginning of our rise. Not convinced of that yet, but it's certainly a possibility. You guys were right, I was wrong. Go Vols.

Agree with OP. Moral victories are still defeats. Im tired of hearing it.

And I am tired if hearing whiny bisnotches like you, everyone was expecting us to get blown out. They played great...... VFL or STFU and GTFO.

This game and how our guys played is huge. Only an idiot could not see that.

Driving home last night, I wanted to punch Jimmy Hyamns in the face for repeatedly calling this loss "acceptable".

Irked me that people called "congratulating" the team. For what?!?

I will say, I was very proud of the effort the whole team gave, and I am very thankful for them..tough way to lose.

If one can't see the improvements that the Vols have made, then they don't want to see them. There are many areas that we have improved and you can't find one of them, then I don't know what to tell you.

When Butch pulls his first upset, I'm sure it won't be good enough for some people because they will continue to say there's no improvement and that we got lucky in said upset.

last night was an incredible game that someone had to lose and we just happened to come up about 6 inches short. whatever you want to call it, it was progress.

Our guys played hard they left it all on the field and if that ain't good enough for now then go cheer for Bama or somebody who is on top. I can't wait to see all the band wagon fans that come back out when Butch has us back on top. GO VOLS!

I can. Because it will be the same losers we have to read every day talking about how they hate the team and the coaches. Once the wins start coming, they'll act like they never said any of the sh** the rest of us have to put up with daily here.

I dont think I like you.

The boys played a very good game today, yeh in the end winning is all that counts but, you cant fault the heart they gave today.

The vols were valiant fought to the end.
Very proud of them as I'm sure the crowd I think fans clapped before they got on bus.

Large brick earned Saturday get game in fourth, lead late.

What remains protect the lead.
