Quit with the moral victory bs

so you fell the same way about the Oregon game as you do this game?

you didn't see improvement in the playmaking and coaching?

please expand because right now I think your retarded
Really? We almost beat a team that was down to their third string tailback (who rushed for over 100 yds), lost their top receiver and was down a starter in the defensive backfield. We let them drive the length of the field with less than 3min to play to tie. No one wants to look at that aspect of the game because we are all grasping at something to feel good about. They played their hearts out, but they should every game.

We played well for the most part and the coaching staff took chances in the second half and played to win.

So Tennessee ALMOST beat Georgia's 3 and 4th string...way to go!!!

And why were they down to their third and forth string: because Tennessee had knocked the snot out of their starters.

Some people on here are incapable of ever seeing the good in adverse situations and positive progress. Either that or they are posting while intoxicated.

ok so whats the problem?

WE LOST! Please tell me how that is a good thing. Doesn't matter if it was by 3 or 43 we still lost.

Guys ignore this dum dum.

He is one of those that said he didn't expect us to win against (one of the losses can't remember) but said he wished they were competitive and gave them a challenge.

Guess we'll never know what he wants to keep him from griping.

Winning! That's what will make me happy. Call me whatever you want, but the name of the game is winning, not almost winning. If your happy with an almost win, good for you.

nobody said it's a good thing or can't you read the pevious posts, everyone knows it's a loss. Just a step in the right direction after 5 years of crappy football. So quit your pissing and moaning.

I never said a close win is something to be happy over. YOU did.

I agree a loss is a loss is a loss, but don't come jumping on this team when a few weeks ago you said you wished they were competitive and kept it relatively close, then jumping on people who are glad they actually did.

I'm not jumping on anyone, just stating the obvious. Can you tell me that what I stated is wrong? We should be competitive every game and they should play their hearts out every game. It should be the norm and not the exception.

We were all proud of dooley his first year vs LSU and we all know the story. Look, it was a great game, that doesnt change the fact that UT lost and had a huge defensive meltdown at the end of regulation. Still waiting for something to be excited about.

Yeah we had a huge defensive meltdown with a lot of help from the refs!

yeah...so are their RB's

Not to downplay the significance of Gurley and Marshall being out, because although they are considerably better than the 3rd string running back due to experience, UT's run defense is still pretty solid. Further, UGA, like Alabama, have consistently recruited high four- and five-star running backs. Running back is also the easiest position to transition with from high school to college. Point being, by saying that "Oh, well, we played our 3rd string RB and that's why we barely won," isn't a really valid or legitimate argument. Just sayin'.

I've always believed this truism in sports: teams that have been down for a while, like the Vols, have to "learn how to win." A lot of it is mental - an expectation that you will win not lose; it's also partly the ability to make the key play at the key time.

Tennessee hasn't yet learned how to win. But if they play every game for the rest of the season with the passion and intensity they showed today, they will learn how to win by winning.

Notice you have posted this in 3 or 4 threads tonight..why don't you go be with the one you love and **** yourself

LOL...and their is the typical Vol fan that turned us old Vol fans away and makes the whole fan base look like stupid red necks. LOL.

I'm just stating the obvious, pee wee. If you can't see it....well...sorry for you.

There are no moral victories - a loss is a loss and that much is obviously true.
However, after this game there is something to finally get excited about (unlike previous games this year where I felt there were no meaningful improvements).
This time however, the team (and entire coaching staff) really took a big step forward and there is nothing to be ashamed about how they coached or played - left it all out there and gave everything they had. Anyhow, I know that I personally needed to see a game like this (especially gutsy calls and great execution on 4th downs in 2nd half) before I could be fully on board with this staff.
Too bad how it ended, but it was a great game and better times really seem to be ahead.

This team found way to grasp loss from jaws of victory

It was not victory

5 years later dam

You shouldn't judge this sort of progress by measuring how far you have to go, only by measuring how far you are from where you started.

This team is getting better every week and just hung with the #6 team in the nation until OT.

And don't give me some argument that Georgia is good but for "key injuries." That is a crap argument. If that is the case do they have to spot us points because we get to claim that we've had 2 head coaches since we last beat them, and lost almost a whole class of recruits?...Wouldn't that also make a difference?

I wasn't proud of that game...I was disgusted. We lost on a substitution error....THIRTEEN MEN ON THE FIELD! Not even 12....THIRTEEN! It was a coaching blunder, pure and simple.

Even though I kept my doubts to myself, since Dooley was brand new at the time, it created a doubt in my mind as to whether he was really up to it or not.

That's not the case with this loss....not at all. LSU was a whole other vibe.
