Racist French...

I'm split on the issue. I have no problem with the government saying that you must take off you're veil to be ID'd. Not sure I agree with an all out public ban of it though. I can go either way on the issue.

It's like history prior to Waterloo doesn't count...

but those idiots spent years distancing themselves from Napoleon's legacy. He revolutionized military structure and tactics altogether and they'd prefer clowns like DeGaulle be their national hero. More power to 'em.

they might get more understanding if that was their reasoning

The measure would outlaw face-covering veils in streets, including those worn by tourists from the Middle East and elsewhere. It is aimed at ensuring gender equality, women's dignity and security, as well as upholding France's secular values — and its way of life.

We wouldn't have won the Revolution without them. Just sayin'.

meh. That win was coming at some point. The logistics for the British were just unsustainable and impractical. They thought a token effort and some presence would quell the entire deal and that was stupid, given the makeup of the colonists.

I'll go with ignorant and thankfully wouldn't fly over here
This could be part of a trend. Those Catholic countries don't seem to like the growing Muslim minority.

I disagree with France here, but I do fully agree with their policy of removing illegal immigrant gypsies.

the next article of clothing France bans should be those silly striped shirts worn by skinny street performers

When I was there the average man in the street hated De Gaulle with a passion.

Napoleon was never a Frenchman anyway.

What if someone burns a burkha?

This is all great news for my burkini shop just off the Champs-Elysee near the Arc de Trippedovermygunsling.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but its my understanding the French government also bans the wearing of the Jewish kippahs and Christian crosses in public places. I really have no problem with them banning this since displaying Christian and Jewish religious items are also banned.
