Rajon's "forward pass"

What I really can't believe is that they managed to make that call on the field without going to the booth.

Neal's comments and facial expressions when asked after the game are pretty funny, imo. Sometimes, you do something in a game and have no rhyme or reason. He's basically acting like he doesn't know what people are talking about and doesn't remember the play.
Neal is a bright dude.

You guys should listen to Rajon's post game interview. His answer to any question about it is something like "I don't remember that play at all" with half a smirk on his face. My guess is he knows he got away with a bad decision.

According to the 2013 NCAA Rule Book, Section 19, Article 2:

Forward and Backward Pass
ARTICLE 2. a. A pass is forward if the ball first strikes the ground, a player, an
official or anything else beyond the spot where the ball is released. All other passes
are backward passes. When in question a pass thrown in or behind the neutral zone
is forward rather than a backward.
b. When a Team A player is holding the ball to pass it forward toward the neutral
zone, any intentional forward movement of his hand or arm starts the forward
pass.
If a Team B player contacts the passer or ball after forward
movement
begins and the ball leaves the passer’s hand, a forward pass is ruled regardless
of where the ball strikes the ground or a player (A.R. 2-19-2-I).
c. When in question, the ball is passed and not fumbled during an attempted
forward pass.

So...There is absolutely no doubt that this was a forward pass. It might not be the proper technique, but it is a forward pass nonetheless.

GO VOLS!

1) The out of bounds play could have gone either way.
2) It was a forward pass
3) There should have been a flag on the North catch...even though it would not have been accepted.

Call it what u want to but at least acknowledge the fact that its the type of call that generally goes against us. Had it been called a fumble I don't think it would have even been challenged by our coaches as an incomplete pass. By the way, it's a lot easier to have this conversation with a W in our pocket.

How was it worleys fault... Was not the best throw but he was wide open and had a great opportunity to catch it

Worley held on the ball for that extra second and threw a pass that wasn't very good, but it still needs to be caught. Pretty easily, in fact. Not a difficult catch for a hs receiver.

He does this a lot when he has someone wide open. It's almost like he's 2nd guessing himself everytime.

imo, he's trying not to turn it over and since he throws to guys like Blanc once every game or so it seems he tries to make sure they are wide open or don't break off the route before throwing. Timing and confidence in communication and routes, imo.

Dude, it WAS a forward pass.

The way he got tackled may have made it look somewhat like a forward pass but I don't believe for a minute it was intentional.

If you watch the replay, he WAS starting to lose the ball, realized it, then did a basketball style chest pass. I think it was totally intentional and a smart move. No one else was in the area but Worley. Avoided loss of yards.

he actually pulled the ball in with both hands while his left foot was still in and right foot hadnt touched out . It was a completed pass. Watch it in slow motion from sideline view.

You saw it the same as I did. I have no doubt it was a catch.

This shows that Butch and co have worked on that rb jump pass play that Cincy used against Syracuse last year...they might not use it this year....or they may use it against Bama...But it's in the playbook...get used to the non-vanilla components...they are omnipresent and will be utilized...btw
I yelled expletives as the play transpired....But this wasn't Neal against Kentucky under Dooley....things work...get used to the daredevil element :devilsmoke:

That was a bonehead move that worked out for us but it's time we caught a break. I am so proud of these players and the work they have put in to turn this thing around.
