Apparently Rand Paul refused a pat-down after the body scanner detected an anomoly.

Rand Paul story excerpts. Seems the standoff is over:

A TSA spokesman disputed that Paul was ever “detained.” But he was not granted access to the secure area of the airport when he tried to board a flight Monday morning.

Paul’s office confirmed he set off an airport security full-body scanner “on a glitch,” according to a spokesman.

The Paul staffer said TSA agents would not let Paul walk back through the body scanner and were demanding a full body pat-down.

The U.S. Constitution actually protects federal lawmakers from detention while they’re on the way to the Capital.

The Senate is back in session today at 2 p.m., with votes scheduled at 4:30 p.m. It is not clear if Paul will make it to Washington by 4:30 p.m. on his new flight.

The TSA has a tough job, but their lack of common sense is astounding.

Flipped over to Thom Hartmann on the local progressive station and he (or I guess the guy standing in for him) is calling for listeners to stand with Rand Paul and kill the TSA.

I hope to never see another 9/11 type of plane hijacking (anywhere, but especially in the USA), but would rather fly with a higher risk than deal with the TSA.

Weren't most of the hijackers already on a no-fly list prior to 9/11? Forget the FBI missing out on it, if they were on a no fly list, then simply following the security protocol that was already in place would have stopped it.

Especially considering the odds. We are 100% sure the TSA will annoy us.

The last thing we need with the lines at airport security is for dudes to be hitting up TSA agents for voluntary body cavity searches.

...and yet some people would buy airline tickets with no intention to fly...just for the cavity search.

The only plane that got stopped that day was due to civilians going hardcore. We are our own best defense against this sort of thing. They had the element of surprise, but nobody is going to let a plane be flown into a building again. The biggest risk is that terrorists may hurt those aboard the plane, but that's the same risk involved when jumping on a greyhound.

Hell, I know I'm geared up for some name-taking and ass-kicking every time I hop on the city bus.

Kidding. But if I lived in the bay area or something like that then I would. A used crack needle would always be in reach and come in handy for that sort of thing.
