All the bottled water and toilet paper was out at the Food City yesterday, and the timing of the strike might simply be coincidental.Someone jyst posted all the toiket paper is gone at Walmart. I saw people in there last night, and it was like the covid times. Tiffany's friend texted her saying we better go buy all we csn. People freaking out over the strike, and not ine understanding we don't get our toiket paper at tge docks. FYI, it's domestic.
I saw people yesterday with 2 carts full of stuff. Not for hurricane, because one would have meat, milk, etc. Every store here now is out of milk, eggs, and toilet paper. They're hoarding stuff that will not be effected by the strikePanic buying. When My dad was a supply officer on his ship, there was a rumor they were going to run out of toothpaste, they had plenty of toothpaste. But everyone bought some, and sure enough they sold out, they had rules on hording and sure enough they'd find people with like 30 tubes in their lockers, reselling it......at some point strike will effect the shelves, but currently this is just panic/hording.
It's also easier to buy some extra paper products, then build up an actual emergency supply, makes em feel like they done something.
I think you are vastly underestimating the number of people who are stepping in and purchasing things for friends and loved ones in the affected areas, joe.I saw people yesterday with 2 carts full of stuff. Like i said, I'd like to believe that. However, I know people who are just doing it, Tiffany had someone call her yesterday and tell us we better. Sure, some are donations for the hurricane, but you can't send meat, eggs, milk, cheese, etc. The shelves look like they did during covid, I assure you, many are just hoarding. They're even commenting about it on the county Facebook page, telling people to mind their business, cayse some are fussing about itI think you are vastly underestimating the number of people who are stepping in and purchasing things for friends and loved ones in the affected areas, joe.
What about people who have relatives they have taken into their homes and are feeding them?Like i said, I'd like to believe that. Yeah we get alot of stuff from China, But TP, Milk, and eggs isn't one of those things. Will be more like dry goods, electronics, chips, etc that are not shipped by air. Fruit could take a hit, but my guess much of it will come through mexico. Now the eastern coastal cities will be hurt, as a ton of domnestically produced food etc moves through coastal waterways.I saw people yesterday with 2 carts full of stuff. Normally I wouldn't have an issue with them wanting a raise. 77% though, that's a bit much, especially when they're already making between 100-300k a year. The higher they said is from overtime, but it's not like they're making minimum wage.
