Would like some advice from Memphians about the traffic situation that resulted from the I-40 bridge woes before we leave Thursday for St. Louis. The past several times we've been crossing Mississippi on the I-55 bridge or taken a route through Jackson, Tn. We're ldriving from from Tusc ...... County. and have no plans to stop ulnless for gas. etc. We could be delayed leaving until Friday or Saturday and certainly don't want to be stuck on the highway for extended length of time

Not worth a ton, but while the Memphians finish cramming down their bbq sketti, it looks wide open now (2:05 Central) per the Google Maps traffic version. The separate uh-oh symbol on I-55 toward the south is a closed on-ramp from Lamar or something.

Google Maps frequently drives me crazy, but the traffic function has been pretty reliable.

There’s only one bridge over the River open in Memphis, the new bridge is closed because it broke. The I-55 bridge is carrying all of the traffic from I-40 and I-56 and usually has between a one and two hour gridlock wait time. Best places to cross the River on the south is West Helena AR and to the north Dyersburg TN.
