Random, Thoughts, X,XXIV

I crossed I-55 bridge this morning at 10 AM and it wasnt bad. By 11 or 12 AM, it gets backed up pretty good and by 2 or so, its a nightmare.

Here are options if later in day
1. Take 45 once you get to Tupelo towards Jackson, TN and 412 in Jackson towards Dyersburg. Take 155 in Dyersburg. Might be best bet.

2. Instead of taking I55 when you get to 240-55 split, Stay on 240 and get off on Union Ave exit. Take Union to Riverside, turn left on Riverside, go 1.5 miles, and take bridge there. You'll miss the brunt of the i55 delay that way. Riverside isn't crowded at all.

We're going to Jackson. Took that route in January and, except for some confusion in Jackson, we enjoyed it. No way in hell can i get to memphis by noon, much less 11. We probably won't be ready to leave until 9 at earliest.

Thanks for spelling it out for us. We miss ytaking a break and enjoying a night in Memphis

I hear Johnny Cash is also going to Jackson.

Are Crowes playing at the Pageant or doing an outdoor thing. Pageant is great venue, and we've seen a lot of good acts there. A very small venue of mine is the Duck Room.
We've found an airbnb we like where UCity and Clayton come together. We 're making this a three-to-four week stay

way it seems to be at all big venues. Even outragedous down here.

But it never seems to stop me from getting back n the beer line, particularly at a baseball game

I aint paying $16 for a 16 ounce cup....

They like thoroughly searched for people trying to sneak drinks in.

We learned you go to Schnucks and buy those 2 oz travel size things of booze and sneak those in.

Their liquor prices are miniscule compared to ours (nearly all state-owned).

But 16 for 16 should be punishable by neverending round trips from the river bridge to missouri

Finally got to go visit a relative in assisted living inside the facility on Monday. It had been over a year. She’s in her 90s and I was very worried she’d pass before we could spend any time with her again. I assume they’ve been feeding the residents well because she did not bring up food and that is usually a hot topic with her.

That and bingo 😁

She never had any red flags. I’ve got her number and going to call her in a couple of days to feel her out and see if there were underlining reasons to do with the facility itself. The two days is a big red flag.
If her references were legit (not clear what you were referring to with the “list your own” part), it does sound like there’s maybe a toxic culture there, at least in the kitchen department.

If not, and it’s just a personality clash, that might be fixable.

But in the current hiring environment, talented people are not going to bother with crazy-ass culture and direct reports. File under “Ain’t nobody got time for that!”

Good luck; hope this is fixable. It takes an awfully long time to turn around a ship.

List your own is another way to market yourself for certain jobs.
As far as the crazy-ass culture, there were definitely concerns there because of the product being pushed, but not personalities. Then again I only spent 4 days first and 2, the second time.

If the facility is the one I guessed, there’s a pretty awful Google review from 3-4 weeks ago blaming a lot on management. It seemed like a review from a former employee, rather than from a family member, but it was pretty ouchy.

I think you’re the perfect person to clean this mess up, but I can see that it might take longer than you’d hope. Good luck, and wear those pointy-toed shoes to kick ass!

You’ve probably got the pin point right. There’s been a way too high turnover in management, too fast. Departments not pushing together to a common goal of making the customer (residents and their family members) satisfied. Looks like I’ll have to dig those pointy-toed shoes out of the depths of my Closet dust them off.
