I’ve seen some breakups in that southeast corner by PSK that are coordination nightmares with Washington and Atlanta.

I think refueling is something we definitely could be better at. We don’t see it enough that everyone feels completely comfortable with it, especially when everything doesn’t go according to plan.

I think it would be good to have a discussion with you all or the guys from Kokomo or Rickenbacker so that each side has a better understanding of procedures taking place on either end.

I’m just now starting radar training in the sim and won’t be back to the floor for another couple months. From what I’ve seen as a D side, the issues down by Pulaski arise when for some reason the flight plan for the receiver has dropped out of the system and a new one has to be created. And then sometimes the FP data doesn’t process correctly and won’t pass on to Atlanta which means it all has to be done manually.

Craziest thing I ever saw though was a trio of B2s refueling. Nothing went right with their breakup, mostly mistakes on their end in this instance. Then one of them claimed he went NORDO, somehow separated from the pack. didn’t squawk anything (I think receivers go to standby) and we finally tracked him down about 100 miles into washington’s airspace. Could’ve been a disaster.

Yeah, that definitely sounds like a B-2 or tanker eff up. The tanker is supposed to get the end AR request from the receiver(s) before marsa is terminated and then pass the new freq and center along. If they were in cell, lead should have ensured the flight knew the plan.
