Random, Thoughts, X,XXIV

Just an opinion on my observation of the gun/NRA/school shooting threads.

Some of the dumbest arguments/comments have been made by the posters in the group that I mostly support.

In my opinion, the opposing side are so ignorant on the subject, they can't challenge those comments.

The main reason I don't get involved is, I genuinely don't trust the honesty of most of them.

Random thought of the day.

I heard a rational comment today on what can/cannot, may/may not be done to reduce/eliminate school shootings. This was unexpected.

My thought is if someone is motivated enough, they'll find a way to kill with or without access to a gun. I understand why they argue gun control, but it's more about the people imo. Their elevators aren't reaching the top floor. If they want to do harm and cannot get a gun, they'll simply use knives, or more likely explosives. IEDs would most likely become the next big thing. We need a better way of identifying disturbed individuals and intervening before they reach their boiling point. But that's jmo. I'm not an expert.

Many may disagree, but i think if more lawful citizens carried guns there would be less instances liked this. These people loom for defenseless targets.

I just recently started carrying. I often pray that I don't ever have to use it, but for strength and knowledge if I have to.

I conceal carry, and thankfully I've never had to think about it.

There are enough gun laws in place. They just need to do a better job of enforcing following up on them.

If they can't stop the guns from getting into the wrong hands then they need to do a better job securing and defending the schools.

Fellow Vols fans, please, keep in mind that conceal carry & open carry laws vary from state to state, and that counties and cities may impose their own regulations atop those of the states. Local control. Check before you travel and assure compliance.

For example, you may be compliant in your home city/county/state wearing your gun in-holster while driving. Change jurisdictions, and the local ordinance may require that you port your firearm in a locked case while operating a vehicle on public roads. Have one handy. Be aware of your whereabouts and remain compliant at all times.

I mostly agree. My post was meant to be more about the discussion itself. Its definitely a sensitive topic and unfortunately, I get a general feeling of 'chest pounding, muh guns, muh rites' from the side I agree with the most. Make sense?

I'm on the other side of it and that side has decided to hard line this issue too. Makes the whole conversation fruitless.

Neither side wants to have a conversation. They just want the other side to capitulate.

Guns don't create monsters. Monsters exist, and they'll use whatever tools they can find.

Why aren't you Rape Stove yet?

Youre right, look at the serial killers of the past -- they rarely used guns -- seems nowdays its all about which psycho can get the most victims in one place
