Rank 'Em: BCS Champions

I'm not sure why that's the case, but that's way off.

We're last on the list, but killing LSU in first place votes. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the reason the older teams are ranked lower is because people just ranked a few and finished the list in order.

That list, in general, is god-awful. At the moment:

1. Texas
2. USC
3. Alabama
4. Miami
5. Florida 08
6. Florida 06
7. Auburn
8. FSU
9. OSU
10. LSU 03
11. Oklahoma
12. LSU 07
13. Tennessee

Seems pretty obvious people aren't voting for the teams they don't remember clearly. The idea that Miami is 4th is ridiculous.

In the polls section it asks for the best undefeated champion in recent memory, and it stops at 2002 Ohio State. I'm not sure why it makes sense to go with the last 9 years instead of the last 10 and leave out the team that was probably the best.

'01 Miami is the best champion of the BCS era, and it's not even close to debatable.
Agreed

As far as Tennessee, I'd probably put them in about the same spot I'd put the Alabama team, but maybe a spot lower. Ranking the teams based on who I think would win head to head matchups:

1. Miami
2. USC
3. Florida 08
4. Alabama
5. Tennessee
6. Oklahoma
7. Florida State
8. LSU 03
9. Texas
10. Florida 06
11. LSU 07
12. Ohio State
13. Auburn

I swayed the vote as best I could. Many of these people voting probably don't even remember '98. I agree with Milo (I think it was you) who said Miami '01 is the best.

I'll take Texas in '05 over the '01 Canes. I know the Canes were stacked, but Vince Young and that team that year was special.
That Texas team made all their hype off beating the team ESPN made that ridiculous "best team ever" argument for, despite the fact that they weren't as good as the year before and were giving up a lot of points. The Canes defense would do all right with Young, IMO, and the offense would certainly put up points. I'd take the Canes by a good amount.

13 players on that Miami team were drafted. 6 were drafted in the first round. They were better

I get that and I tried to adjust my post before it was quoted, pretty quick on the draw there emain, but I still feel that Vince Young was too good that year and created too many problems that they were the best in the BCS era.

But this is by the slimmest of margins. I still think the '01 Canes were a monster of a team.

Once again, I'm not sure how edging out that USC team means they were better than Miami. No one man team was going to beat the Canes.

I wasn't using the USC game as my sole example. I am speaking about how special Vince Young was that year. And you are right no one man would beat the Canes, but that Texas team had some studs too.

Definitely. I had them in my top 3.

That Texas team I saw go into the Horshoe and beat OSU was a very good team, but I'm not convinced they are top 3. Miami and USC are definitely my top two, though.

My entire list

Miami 01 (The best team maybe ever)
Texas 05 (The best quarterback maybe ever, with a stacked defense)
USC 04 (That entire team was sick. Their D was just phenomanal)
FSU 99 (Had a lot of offensive weapons
Tennessee 98 (A great defense, with an excellent running game)
Alabama 09 (Could go with number 5, basically same team as Tennessee)
Florida 08 (That team was really good offensively)
Oklahoma 00 (Don't remember them much)
Florida 06 (Overrated, they didn't impress me very much)
Ohio State 02 (Not even Tressel's best team)
LSU 03 (That team just wasn't that good. Would have lost to USC)
Auburn 10 (Two great players, great O-Line, and that's it)
LSU 07 (the teams they lost too weren't that good, despite injuries)
