Rank the US Presidents

-Lincoln the best. Although @volfanhill makes a good point about Harrison.
-The reality TV star was the worst no doubt. Nixon was previously the worst but got a nice bump up a notch after 2016-2020.

Average? I'd put the benchmark at both Bushes, Obama, Fillmore/Polk/Eisenhower. All average and could be slotted in any order near one another
Imagine thinking a racist was the best president ever

Should we just go ahead and classify all 1-term presidents to below average and all 2-term to at least average?
So you think George W Bush was at least an average president just because he won re-election? No we can’t automatically classify anyone who served two terms as at least an average President.

Not really true. There would still be a United States, even if he had let the southern states secede. And honestly, there's a good chance reunification would have eventually happened, peacefully, because we're stronger as a whole.

Agreed. The states would have reunited later on if Lincoln hadn't meddled, and it would have been a setback for federalism. Apparently no one knows this Lincoln quote:

This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it, or exercise their revolutionary right to overthrow it.

Or this one:

“In treating the history of Texas, Lincoln uttered words that would return to haunt him thirteen years later when Southern states left the Union: “Any people anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up, and shake off the existing government, and for a new one that suits them better. This is a most valuable, – a most sacred right – a right, which we hope and believe, is to liberate the world. Nor is this right confined to cases in which the whole people of an existing government, may choose to exercise it. Any portion of such people that can, may revolutionize, and make their own, of so much of the territory as they inhabit. More than this, a majority of any portion of such people may revolutionize, putting down a minority, intermingled with, or near about them, who may oppose their movement.”

This is so stupid. LOL. Good lord.

I disagree... especially about Washington. But it is a silly thing to argue. Like asking whether or not Teddy Roosevelt would have nuked Hiroshima? Who the hell knows?
Silly but fun. I enjoy it. And on some level you problems do to else you wouldn’t participate. And my guess is he probably would have 😂

The Patriot act is pretty disturbing. If they were actually concerned with preventing terrorism, maybe they could have done something groundbreaking like ending immigration from countries filled with people who hate us

How about some ideas on president’s that did well but are seldom celebrated? I submit Polk and Madison.

Being from the South I agree with you. If I take my regional bias out of the Equation the answer becomes Woodrow, Obama or Biden then probably Lincoln.

No Southern bias. No President killed more Americans or trampled on the Constitution more. He was by far the worst, which of course means we deified him.

LOL. That is absurd. You are not even explaining what you are talking about when you say that. What would President Weezer have done differently, I wonder?

President Weezer invades Canada. Obviously you haven't been paying attention. First we take the Great White North, then we drive south. The entire Western Hemisphere will be ours!!

Not arguing that he performed terribly or that he set an awful precedent. Just saying that it’s hard for me to take my own identity and set of beliefs out of the equation. Of course I dislike him, my grandma won’t even say his name to this day. Her grandfather fought against Lincoln and his brother died doing so. With all that baggage it’s hard for me to even pretend to be objective

John Tyler had an interesting Presidency. He ended up pissing off both major parties at the time, so he probably did a little better than history tries to portray.

All 3 believed in states' rights, not to mention all 3 were Virginians, and Washington and Jefferson were slaveholders. Not sure if Madison owned slaves or not, but probably a good chance he did.

Lincoln evolved a great deal over time. Most articles concerning him will cherry pick material, depending on what point they're trying to make.
Lincoln believed in white supremacy. He didn't believe in slavery. That's a historical fact backed up by his own speeches and writings.

What’s cool about him is that he tried participated in Virginia leaving the Union. That’s pretty surreal
