Ranking the SEC coaches...

To play devil's advocate, how do you do a ranking at all?

Not everyone is dealt the same hand.

I believe if talent were equal across the board franklin would be able to field a team that could win more often than not against the rest of the coaches.

Yeah.

He's competitive now with a talent disadvantage

Exactly what I was trying to say.. Richt should be more successful, and Franklin should be less

Maybe we need to hook up for saturday. You going early for autographs?

Oh yea. Gonna try to be there by 8. I know the lines are gonna be crazy. We can definitely meet up!

I'm not gonna be there early enough for autographs, but I'll be getting there around 11:00 and heading to the Half Barrel with "ChuckNorris" (one of our own Vol Nation-ers). Would love to meet you guys if you want to come have a beer or two before the game!

How the hell was florida only at number 10? I hate Florida like everyone else, but still they are an elite program. Florida > Vanderbilt > Ole Miss

Cool smo! Will have my daughter and she wants to do Calhouns and autographs but my sister is coming too so I may be able to hit Cumberland for a few.

And James Franklin being anywhere higher than 9th or 10th is ridiculous. I guess it goes to show how important a rare win for Vandy over Tennessee (last season) really is for them. On the flip side, when Dooley beat Vandy it did nothing for his standing (rightfully so). Franklin is nothing but Lane Kiffin without the "flash." His mouth is almost as bad ... and pointless.

Franklins A good coach Kiffen isn't! If Franklin was coaching USC they probably would have went to A BCS bowl last year. If U want to hate on Franklin fine but there is no comparrison between him and Kiffen!

Why do people keep saying the Cincy was less talented than Vandy in 2011? Cincy was ranked. Just because Cincy was in the Big East and Vandy is in the SEC?

Brian Kelly didn't even try to recruit at Cincy, especially on the lines. Butch paid for it with a 4-8 record and a Derek Dooley blow out.

Coach with a pedestrian offense, improves from 6 wins to 11 wins = 10th best in the league.

If Muschamp ever wins the SEC, maybe he'll move into the Top 6.

Oh that's fine, I understand. I don't want to pull you away from your daughter, unless of course your sister wants to hang out with her without you since she can't come in the bar.

My daughter is currently -9.5 weeks old. :) Due June 29. Soooo..... My wife will be in Athens (bless her heart, she's a UGA fan) visiting some friends, so I have some freedom before the season starts, which is why I'm gonna head to the Half Barrel. Do you live down in the Chattanooga area like voldawgforever? I've never met him, just know we live in the same town (which isn't a big town at all...)

Please tell me, with that grammar, that you did not attend Mt. Juliet HS.

No, I live in the tri cities. Mine is 12 and she loves UT football. She would rather spend a Saturday in Knoxville than pretty much anything else. Calhouns is her favorite place to go on gameday and I like it too but anytime I'm with other adults I make a stop at half barrel. They make a mean bloody mary!! Ill be on volnation mobile as well so ill check in here to find out when you're there.

Richt at #2 is hilarious.. Put James f at uga, and he would be light years ahead.. Can't stand the dude, but he seems to be a great coach/recruiter at a crappy school for football.

Don't know what conference you've been watching but there's only one HC in the SEC to take his team to the previous two championship games.

Sumlin at 4? Let's slow down a bit and see if he can win without a guy like Johnny Football.

I remember one of these threads right after Dooley was hired (or was it right after his first year?) Anyway, I remember several on here angrily arguing with me that Dooley belonged in the top 5 and definitely ahead of Mark Richt.

I wonder if any of those folks actually learned anything from the last 3 years?

which was dumber:

1) thinking Dooley was a top-5 coach before coaching an SEC game

2) Arguing with a person who thought Dooley was a top-5 coach before coaching an SEC game

Honesly, it was alot more than one person. VN's penchant for mass insanity was in full effect. You really couldn't get away from the people who were talking up Dooley's intangibles, predicting greatness, and attacking anyone using logic.
