Rate Charlie Strong as a HC

How would you rate the Charlie Strong hire?

If the promised land is 8-9 win seasons and beating the likes of South Carolina and Georgia occasionally, then yes.

If it's winning championships or beating Alabama and Florida, heavens no.

Personally no, I think he at best will get us to 7 or 8 wins. His first year he will be lucky to get to 6 IMO. Losing to he usual suspects of bama, uf, uga, and uscjr. We are probably going to reach mediocre and probably stay right at or below that.

Another pit stop on the road to being important in the grand scheme of things.

People are pissy because we didn't get gruden, yes he will bring us back to sec prominence and with the right staff nation prominence I have said it once and I'll say it again other than spurrier there isn't a coach in the east I would rather have

Strong is at the bottom of the A list imo. But at least he is not B list like some of the other names we've been hearing this week!

Good hire. He'll bring a staff that can really recruit, and I think he'll fix our D.


Fans just need to give him time before calling for his head, because his name isn't "Jon Gruden."

Basing off Tennessee's needs of:

A defensive mastermind
Someone who has won in the SEC
Someone who knows what it takes to turn a program around
Someone who can recruit

I'd call it a home run, and a triple at worst.

Charlie Strong is going to succeed here at Tennessee. Everyone who says other wise isn't even giving him a chance. Let the man come in, sign a great recruiting class and coach these players up. Ill tell you this, from watching his team play they love playing for him and I would like to have that persona here. If you ever watch how his players and staff talk about him its always to the highest regards. I want out players to win for their coach and this program.

Get on the Strong train, or step aside, because it's coming.

I think the force is STRONG with this one!!

I think he will be a great recruiter, especially if he brings Tee Martin home. Can you image the damage Graham, Martin, and Strong can do on the recruiting trail? Hopefully he will turn out to be a great coach to, we'll see....

3rd tier of Guys I really wanted. Voted double. who knows he could do great here but he is a long way from being a proven coach. I do like his body of work... Would like to know who he is looking at for coordinators? He doesn't have many coaching connections, anyone have any ideas here?

I was hoping for more of a splash name.. Either way he'll be a improvement over Dooley.. Maybe he can occasionally beat a decent team or two...

Decent hire, will not be a long term fix. I see him staying 3-4 years tops.

If he can fill out the roster with the same kind of talent he brought in at UF, we will be ok.

Would have much rather had Fedora.

Forget Gruden, if Strong can't out recruit Rutgers, USF, Cinncy, Pitt, Ucon, and the likes in the Big lEast, then how in the hell is he going to out recruit saban, miles, richt, spurrier, or for chitts and giggles, franklin?
