Oh I forgot Pitt, but they are moving up to the ACC

This class isn't even over. they have about 10 less commits than the other teams you mentioned. The random 2 and 3*'s are giving them extra points. If he were to finish out this class it would jump right up to the top.

Hell, in his time at Florida 7 out of 8 were top ten. 5 out of 8 classes were top ten. 4 of those being top 3.

Ok, first off, just because I posted in the Gruden Forum doesn't mean that was all I was banking on. Secondly, there has got to be a more proven coach than Strong. Lastly, it's the big east for crying out loud. I admit I could be wrong, but this blind faith in him making the transition is just as ridiculous.

I'd say you have blind faith in his failure.

Personally no, I think he at best will get us to 7 or 8 wins. His first year he will be lucky to get to 6 IMO. Losing to he usual suspects of bama, uf, uga, and uscjr. We are probably going to reach mediocre and probably stay right at or below that.

Another pit stop on the road to being important in the grand scheme of things.

I will give it 8 games and the booing will start raining from the stands if he is hired...

The bad thing is that people put up with CDD for 3 years, so any new coach will have to win fast..

Good maybe he will get the chance to stay and finish it for them...:hi:

I usually don't. However, I really don't want another 3 years of what we just had. I think the overhype of his recruiting prowless, and next year's schedule is going to destroy him. He won't get near as much patients from the fans as many would hope.

Again, I know I could very wrong, but this he is a sure fire thing, and everyone being ok with mediocre bowls at best is killing me.

I like Arkansas and Auburn hires better..

Good both are looking for new fans.

Bret will not do well in the SEC
Auburn will have problems because of the NCAA and Randy Sanders being hire there

When the stadium attendance is down by 30-40 per cent then say" goodbye Mr. Hart." Strong was wondering why the people of Louisville didn't turn out for games and he thought it was simply the nature of the Louisville people. The real reason is Mr. Strong, no ones wants to watch any team he coaches. Good luck Hart

Of all the names mentioned, Charlie Strong is at the absolute bottom of my list. Please please please don't do this.....

8.5 / 10. He will make us competitive recruiting in south Carolina and Florida again and has shown he is at the very least a good head coach. Also we have to remember he is a massive improvement over Dooley.
I would compare it to having your heart set on a dime piece of split tail and being rejected but still bringing home a slightly less hot hottie as a consolation prize that still makes your buddies go "damn".This is no small accomplishment considering we are not exactly the French underwear models of the college football world right now. Be excited guys! (no homo).

Forget Gruden, if Strong can't out recruit Rutgers, USF, Cinncy, Pitt, Ucon, and the likes in the Big lEast, then how in the hell is he going to out recruit saban, miles, richt, spurrier, or for chitts and giggles, franklin?

How did Petrino do with recruiting?

How successful was he at Arky?

People are pissy because we didn't get gruden, yes he will bring us back to sec prominence and with the right staff nation prominence I have said it once and I'll say it again other than spurrier there isn't a coach in the east I would rather have

SEC prominence=National prominence....

SEC>Anyone else :loco:

At one point in time, this man was wearing orange/blue and doing the gator chomp in gainesville with saint timmy and company.

I'd call it a ground rule double. It's not an swinging strike like Dooley was, but nowhere near a walkoff Grand Slam in Game 7 of the World series like a Gruden or Stoops would be.
Can Charlie Strong win at UT? Sure
Can Charlie Strong recruit top prospects to UT? why the hell not
Can Charlie Strong return us to national prominence? anything is possible

Will Charlie Strong successfully do any of this? Well, to quote one of my favorite movies (Jarhead):

WE SHALL F****** SEE.

I'd be happy with the Sugar Bowl...for starters. :D

Decent hire, will not be a long term fix. I see him staying 3-4 years tops.

If he can fill out the roster with the same kind of talent he brought in at UF, we will be ok.

Would have much rather had Fedora.
You do know strong beat Fedora's UNC and Southern Miss teams, right?

Yeah clearly I was implying I won't support Tennessee now. Good grief...

Just curious. Those of you who would rather have Dooley back, could you please explain how you justify that? That would be interesting to hear.

I say triple with a potential for a home run. Problem is everyone here wants a home run now and only a select few coaches would be that---Let Strong come here and do what he does best and I'm sure people will be a lot happier and jumping on his band wagon. Haters are going to hate but you have to give the guy a chance---plus he's going to have access to our resources...and I guarantee he'll garner more respect than Dooley on the recruiting trail and better results.

How did Petrino do with recruiting?

How successful was he at Arky?

Petrino's big east had miami contending for NC and VT in it when he coached there. He was crankin those offenses like a mad man at UL before bolting to NFL. Arky recruitting boosted 4 fold because an NFL coach that was successful in the then good big east was making a move there. There is more to stories than just some dude showed up and was a diamond in the rough when it comes to recruiting.
