Charlie Strong is going to succeed here at Tennessee. Everyone who says other wise isn't even giving him a chance. Let the man come in, sign a great recruiting class and coach these players up. Ill tell you this, from watching his team play they love playing for him and I would like to have that persona here. If you ever watch how his players and staff talk about him its always to the highest regards. I want out players to win for their coach and this program.

Get on the Strong train, or step aside, because it's coming.

Everything you just said is what we just did with Dooley.

Basing off Tennessee's needs of:

A defensive mastermind
Someone who has won in the SEC
Someone who knows what it takes to turn a program around
Someone who can recruit

I'd call it a home run, and a triple at worst.

This.

Hopefully he can get some defensive recruits in here... Lord knows we need help there..

Tagged out at first. Or could be strike three. Depends on how much of an improvement you consider a 6-6 season and the Compass Bowl.

Decent hire, will not be a long term fix. I see him staying 3-4 years tops.

If he can fill out the roster with the same kind of talent he brought in at UF, we will be ok.

Would have much rather had Fedora.

Have to agree. Strong might bring in some players for the next coach to be named in 2015.

How can you possibly believe he is a triple at worst?

Because I don't live in fantasy land where Gruden flies down from above to be the savior of UT.

Seriously, though, I don't see how anyone can look objectively at his ENTIRE record and assume he will fail. IMO, his record suggests just the opposite. I've been in Louisville since 1995, and I've followed UL football during that time. Strong has turned this program around in short order. IMO, if he stayed it would only get better.

we wanted a home run and got a single. He might win the batting title, but will never be the home run king.

Ok, first off, just because I posted in the Gruden Forum doesn't mean that was all I was banking on. Secondly, there has got to be a more proven coach than Strong. Lastly, it's the big east for crying out loud. I admit I could be wrong, but this blind faith in him making the transition is just as ridiculous.

Forget Gruden, if Strong can't out recruit Rutgers, USF, Cinncy, Pitt, Ucon, and the likes in the Big lEast, then how in the hell is he going to out recruit saban, miles, richt, spurrier, or for chitts and giggles, franklin?

Get outta here with that crap. in the Big East: 2nd in 2010, 1st in 2011, and 2nd in 2012. Look your stuff up before you start spouting off.

I would consider it a walk or technically "base on balls", and not even a "single" which isn't an option either. If true, Arky got the better coach and the argument could be made that AU did as well. Strong is far from a home run hire.

Personally no, I think he at best will get us to 7 or 8 wins. His first year he will be lucky to get to 6 IMO. Losing to he usual suspects of bama, uf, uga, and uscjr. We are probably going to reach mediocre and probably stay right at or below that.

Another pit stop on the road to being important in the grand scheme of things.

Damn, I can hardly wait to get back up to mediocre again. It's been awhile.
