Rawane Ndiaye Reportedly commits

Dude, why dont you quit policing what people talk about. Its a chat board! I am reading a discussion about whether or not he held other offers. And from the sites I've saw, his JC coach and local media are the only confirmation he had others.

97% on here are vol fans. I for one am going to support the players no matter what I read on here.

Rob Lewis is reporting it also. But ok. Not everyone will support the players either. There are a lot of people on here wanting this kid to fail. I won't be a part of that. Carry on, everyone.

Who else could he have gotten? If Stokes stays will people be willing to deal with this commitment? Especially if Yemi leaves and its essentially replacing Yemi with another player of his caliber and he won't be asked to play more than 6-8 minutes a game.

That's where I'm at. If this end up being Stokes replacement I'll criticize this as much as anyone...however, if it's that yemi was leaving (not forced out, he decided to leave) and we needed another big body, I'm fine with this. He's very comparable to yemi numbers out of HS, was rated higher than yemi coming out of NC, and is a bigger body than yemi.

I agree. If its role player for role player I'm ok. If its role player for a star then ill jump on the criticism bandwagon.

Getting caught with your pants down in April....I guess you get a bottom of the barrel JV recruit. Recruiting to needs in 2012, you would EXPECT an upgrade to Yemi not an at best equal replacement.

I would expect Yemi to be over recruited in 2012. It's not like we were loaded at the post. Maymon was expected to be gone. Stokes potentially gone. Hall gone. Yemi not very talented. Crucial position of need overlooked.

How do you know he's not an upgrade over yemi? If he proves to be will you praise the evaluation of Ndiaye by Martin and staff?

As for recruiting a big, in December it became clear Maymon was returning, they'd have yemi, and Jarnell was nowhere near a mock draft. So should they have been out there recruiting bigs, but not offering them? That usually doesn't sit too well with the type of recruits you're taking about.

ok you're right.

Not monitoring anything. I just don't like it when people expect, or hope for, kids that wanted to be Vols to fail.

Then what would we discuss on a message board....It cant all be roses and daises.....If it means anything.....I want to be a VOL also but dont want Zo recruiting me either lol

Good grief. Nobody I've read implied wanting the kid to fail. But carry on. How many check marks on your pad requires detention?

I'm just letting it play out before I make judgments. That's all. I'm not saying he will be great or that he will fail. I'm just trying to stay neutral until I see what happens.

Some people say JV recruits, I say role players. Every team needs a few stars with some role players/glue guys. Freshman, unless they are a 5 star or a high 4 star are usually role players when they first come in. The hope is that they develop into stars. A perfect example would be Josh Richardson (top 150 3 star). Last year, Josh was our defensive specialist. A role player. This year he's started to show signs of a developing offensive game to go with his defense. Hopefully, by his junior and senior year he is ready to take over and lead the team, which I think he can do. That is the natural progression.

Ndiaye is a role player. Yemi is a role player. Q is a role player. Reese is a role player. Armani is a role player. Golden, Stokes, and McRae are your stars. That is good balance. You look for the big three to provide your scoring night in and night out with the other guys chipping in as needed. If Ndiaye can come in and grab 5 boards and play solid defense while Stokes gets a break, he's worth it. Much like people say Landry would be worth it if he came in and managed the team while Golden takes a breather.

Every class, CCM has brought in a star with role players that have potential. Hubbs is our next star. AJ Davis looks to be the stretch 4 that fits our system. Huge potential to be a force in a few years. Thompson will be our back up point guard with the potential to be a star down the road after he develops. Ndiaye can take Yemi's spot as a rebounder off the bench.

Like I said, if it's Ndiaye for Stokes I will be upset. Until that is the case, I will remain neutral.

I'm not policing anything. Sorry for supporting our new player and not throwing him under the bus before he even plays a game for us.

IMO Yemi should have always been looked at to be over recruited anyway. Obviously, CCM thinks so to with the minutes that Yemi got at the end of last season. Maymon was gone after one year at worst. A decent recruit could have been brought in and got Yemi / new JV type minutes next year and had 20+ minutes his Soph. year. Easy sell IMO.

I think the staff thought they had Nichols in the bag. Nichols would have had all of Yemi's minutes and then some. I think AJ Davis would take some of his minutes as well.

Brendan Quinn tweeted that he thinks the writing may be on the wall regarding Stokes leaving. He said it was just his opinion. I knew Stokes wanted to leave early, but he better hope someone is going to draft him on his potential to hit an outside jump shot. Right now, I don't see how his game translates to much success in the NBA.

A crucial mistake that could very well end up costing CCM his job at UT.

Hmm wonder what he'd hearing, Lewis has seemed pretty confident stokes will return. Wonder if a lot of the guy people thought would go and are returning changed his mind...

Quinn on Martins evaluation of Ndiaye...

"He'll be able to comment on Ndaiye once his NLI arrives (Zo thinks he's more skilled than Yemi and likes his rebounding ability)”

I think it will be a good pick up. I don't think some of our fans realize how much not having a shot blocker of this size has hurt us. Just his presence should help out defensively. We have scorers . We need some size. We haven't had a true 5 in years.

Yeah, not since Brian Williams and Phillip Jurrick. Sometimes you need skills to go along with that size.
