With the four-star recruit and nation's No. 13 rated running back by Rivals.com set for his first official visit to Alabama this weekend the 6-foot, 220-pound Lacy acknowledged a recent increase in frequency of interest coming from LSU.
"They're trying somewhat," Lacy said. "They called and heard that I was picking up my grades and might have a chance to be eligible and basically talking to me about coming to their school."
"They weren't talking to me at first but know that I'm getting back on track they're trying to talk to me," Lacy said. "They weren't there when I was doing bad but know that I'm doing good they're there. There are other schools that have been there all along."
Saia admitted that the difference between Lacy being an academic qualifier or not could be the result of a photo finish.
"It's 50-50 right now," Saia said. "But if he doesn't make it he's going to be so close he'll be able to go to a prep school for a semester and be back in the spring for football practice. He's got a shot. It's going to depend how he finishes. It's going to come down to his final exams."
Because of a basketball game next Friday, Lacy said he's not 100 percent sure he'll take a scheduled official visit to Tennessee which then could leave the door ajar for a possible trip to LSU.
"I'm not telling anyone that I'm not interested because I don't know what I'm going to do or where I'm going to end up," Lacy said. "I'll keep all of my options open but I know what I want to do if I get my grades up."
