Real reason why Bama at #6

The committee wants Bama to get in without making it too obvious.

Sports have always been political and it hasn’t changed.

I'm at the point to where I wouldn't mind if Bama snuck in and beat Georgia

Been at that point ever since we were eliminated. Bama is the only team that could beat Georgia or even give them a game, and is the only team Georgia fears, whether they admit it or not.

This committee said that it considers injuries, according to Joe Klatt. I haven't checked it myself. I will say that this committee has been awful. Greg McElroy also opined that Alabama should be behind Tennessee for reasons stated here and that Tenn should be awarded the Sugar Bowl.

Hooker is out for the season. Milton doesn’t have the media star power that any of these other QBs have. 1 game vs Vandy isn’t gonna get you hype points.
We would not beat Bama on a neutral field in a rematch without Hooker. Guess they are weighing our losses as greater than Bama’s barely wins (ie Texas)

With the CFP and with some very sketchy officiating in games (and I'm not just stating the TN games) I am starting to believe college football is becoming the WWE or WWF whatever the hell professional wrestling calls itself nowadays.

It's fixed.

The committee is protecting themselves in case TCU and USC completely sh!t the bed this week.

They don’t wanna be faced with a Tennessee at 6 with the QB hurt.
I've said the exact same thing. They are hedging themselves. If it were to happen and it could....They want Bama-Young over UT-Milton.

this sounds good in theory however not all conferences and all divisions are remotely equal.

Does a 8-4 Purdue really belong?
Does a 9-3 LSU?
9-3 UNC?

Not saying those teams will win their conference but each “could.”

2 of them (UNC and Purdue) got there because their divisions are extremely weak…….that’s it.

Purdue isn’t even ranked and they could get in with one single win. While really good teams get left out…….because they played in an actual conference and actual division and had strong SOS’s.

It’s never as “simple” as it seems in college football. If everyone played everyone else in their conference or played everyone in their division twice……maybe…….but they don’t.
So

You think a bunch a people at desks should say...naw this conference aint good?

Win your division
Win your conference
Have a shot at a NC

Then its settled on the field.

I realize that fans want entertainment and arent really interested in the full season not valid competition. I realize television networks are gonna go with what makes the most money. So letting nerds pick who is best makes the most people happy.

But it still aint settled on the field. If you cant win your conference, why should you get a do over chance to make up for that loss/those losses?

IMO the conferences should be evened out to a smaller number (10 teams woild be ideal) play a round robin schedule...everyone very year and the end of season tournamet is conference champs only. And then you will have a champion for the season. Conferences that arent as good wont likely ever win a NC. But they would have a chance.

It would also start to level the playing field and over time conferences would likely become closer to equal. Which im.certain the SEC and Big 10ish would never allow that to happen.

Anyhow...if you arent good enough to be the nest in your conference...how the hell are you good enough to be the National Champion?

All the drama and human influence contribution is a product of this CFP system. Still like the bcs better for all the reasons that presented itself. Bcs human influence was the ap/coaches poll input. If you find the bcs formula today Tennessee is still not in the championship. However, they would be higher than 7.

I know we got stomped by SC which we had no business losing that game... but things happen and teams have a bad game.... here's my issue:

If the CFP committee are using our best offensive player being injured against us, they why wouldn't they take into consideration our best defensive player was out for our recent loss?
Perhaps because Banks was out one game and came back but Hooker is gone for the year.

As for bad games, GA struggled with Mizzou. That's a bad game but they won. Had they lost, a lot would be different, but they didn't.

The Vols did lose our bad game. Very badly. As in, hasn't occurred in over 100 years, bad. A team as strong as the Vols should've been able to overcome our struggles like GA did. We didn't.

We had one game against a cellar opponent left to improve our look. Just as people like to say "South Carolina got better during the season," it looks to the committee like "Tennessee fell off a bit at the end of the season."

Especially when you oy complete 50% of your passes and throw for less than 200 yards against Vandy.

makes perfect sense

Saturday Tulsa will be playing for their conference championship.

Tulsa is 7-5
Tulsa got beat by OSU 77-21

But sure Tulsa belongs in your fantasy land and OSU does not.
