Folks from the Euge don't much like to be associated with Portland. Knox to nashville isn't too much further than Eugene to Portland.

Meh, not true. At least 75% of my friends since grade school in Eugene have moved to Portland, and I intend to in the very-near future. There aren't any issues between the two cities...
