Reality Check for the upset minded.

Well if the game was played with numbers and what all the experts say then football wouldn't have much appeal now would it. Football is played on the field not int the pregame stats or the trends. Enjoy the game and Go Vols

The last time Tennessee won a true road game that wasn't Vandy, Memphis or Kentucky was against Mississippi State in 2007.

Oklahoma is just a tad tougher than that, so the last time Tennessee beat a ranked team on the road was 2006 against #9 Georgia.

The 2007 Vols were 10-4 with an SEC East Championship.

The 2006 Vols were 9-4, 9-3 in the regular season.

Do you guys still think we will win? Statistics say hell no.

To heck with stats! Why do you think they call it an upset? I'd rather believe and go down fighting then roll over and play dead! :gun::neener2:
GO VOLS!

I've seen you catch flack for your realistic views. I haven't said so, but I like a lot of what you say as well.

Thanks :hi: I find it funny that people argue over statistics. Numbers don't lie. Sure we could win, but it is whether you like it or not extremely unlikely. Which is fine. We are still on the right path.

Well, he is right. Just look at Va tech they haven't won versus a ranked team of significance for ever it seems. Then they got smashed by Ohio state this year...oh wait. Nevermind my post.

Let's not forget ohio state is always overrated, and they just lost their most likely heisman throphy winner QB. Miller was the osu offense. I've seen a lot of people using the "if va tech can win in osu then we can win in OU".Completely different teams and circumstances. It doesn't work. I hope we win but I just don't see it. Don't set yourself up for a huge let down.

This is a football game not a math test. What's on paper doesn't mean sh*t!!!

We ain't going to just lay down. We are going to hit them right in the mouth and then tell them thanks for coming out.
Remember this.... we have more true orange TN boys on this team than we have had since the late 80's or early 90's. We will see our kids GIVE ALL FOR TENNESSEE on Sat. When that happens...anything can happen! Our O line is made up of mostly TN kids. Let ESPN and everyone else say they are soft and going to get beat....they are going to fight! I don't know if we will win...but you can bet your a$$ OU will be in for a fight! GO VOLS!

As long as the team shows up ready to play football I will never believe any game is a guarantee lost. What Tennessee has done in the past means nothing in this game.

I don't know if we will win or lose, but I won't sleep a bit Friday night in anticipation for this game. Saturday morning I'm not going to watch game day I will instead be playing golf. I will come home to grill and drink before the game and I'll cheer this team on until the outcome has been decided. So don't show me point spreads or statistics why we should get our ass beat. Instead show me 85 young men who are gonna fly to Norman with every intention of f$%king $hit up!

I HAVE SEEN THIS HAPPEN BEFORE TO TENNESSEE! I remember a 1990 9-6 game vs bama where there was no way we lose. Several times we have better players and coaches and lost....why you say? BECAUSE we were not mentally prepared to win and the other team was not mentally prepared to lose! I think this team is mentally prepared to win! GO VOLS!

Why do people on VN and sports talk feel it is their responsibility to keep fans expectations in check? I can not stand to be told over and over to expect next to nothing. Not saying we will be favored, or that it is low expectation to beat Oklahoma, but just tired of the defeated mindset. :banghead2:

So anyone have anything against this thinking.

First Oklahoma is a pro style offense so most of the game our ones are gonna play. The main problem with ark st was the tempo made us have to use 2nd and 3rd string players.

Next I know our o line is bad but if we use 3 step drops and screens this will not be as bad on us

And last Oklahoma's weakness on defense is there corners and that's our strength.

Our team is better on paper, since you're so concerned about statistics, than Oklahoma.

Now what?

Justin Worley is also has a better QB passer rating than Trevor Knight. This with a "crappy inexperienced O-Line".

Third down for what?

I can't wait for us to beat Oklahoma, so everyone can say how we don't have a shot versus uga. How It's impossible for this young team to beat two top teams in a row, etc.

I remember crying (I was 9 at the time) when we lost the 2004 SEC Championship. How the mighty have fallen.

fallen?...not anymore, think we are finally standing ..lol..might be using a set of crutches but at least we are standing.

There was a time when we would "never" beat Alabama again but we did. We would never win another game "at the swamp" but we did. We would never beat Miami in the Sugar Bowl but we did. We would never win a NC under Fulmer but we did. etc etc etc.

Sometimes hope is all we have but with hope comes change. Soon...............
