There was a time when we would "never" beat Alabama again but we did. We would never win another game "at the swamp" but we did. We would never beat Miami in the Sugar Bowl but we did. We would never win a NC under Fulmer but we did. etc etc etc.

Sometimes hope is all we have but with hope comes change. Soon...............

OK.. WHO HACKED GLDunlap computer?

The last time Tennessee won a true road game that wasn't Vandy, Memphis or Kentucky was against Mississippi State in 2007.

Oklahoma is just a tad tougher than that, so the last time Tennessee beat a ranked team on the road was 2006 against #9 Georgia.

The 2007 Vols were 10-4 with an SEC East Championship.

The 2006 Vols were 9-4, 9-3 in the regular season.

Do you guys still think we will win? Statistics say hell no.

Are we likely to win? No. Do we have shot at winning? Absolutely. Oklahoma is a great college football team, but folks on this message board are acting as though we are traveling to Seattle to play the Defending Super Bowl Champion Seahawks. Oklahoma is not invincible as last year's Texas and Baylor games demonstrated. Additionally, upsets happen in college football and sometimes they even happen on the road. Besides, I truly believe that this year's team is an unknown quantity at this point. We have a ridiculous amount of talent at the skill positions, and if our line can improve throughout the season, we could really surprise some teams. Nine wins isn't likely, but it isn't out the realm of possibility at this stage either given the number of playmakers that we have and our veteran leadership at the QB position.

According to ESPN's FPI index, we have a 12.7% of beating the Sooners. Once again, I agree that we aren't likely to win, but to act as though this Oklahoma team is invincible doesn't make a lick of sense to me. Are you telling me that if Cam Sutton gets a pick six; AJ Johnson forces a fumble that we recover deep in OU territory; Marzquez North catches a couple of deep passes similar to the one he made against South Carolina; and we avoid turning the ball over ourselves that we couldn't pull off an upset? Don't get me wrong, we will need to play our best football and force some turnovers to have a shot in this game. But a win, while unlikely, is certainly within the realm of possibility.

We have turned the corner. Do we beat Ok? maybe/maybe not, but we are on our way up finally. :)

OP is bringing up past performances to justify why he hopes we lose. It's one thing to be a Vol fan, have a bad day....post some negative stuff.....feel bad about it, but Posting our past loosing to "hopefully" squash any hope we have of an upset in Norman prior to the game, is really F'd up.

I know its a big if, but if Tennessee does win, can all these statistic threads of why we can't never win go away? I know a lot of you guys are intelligent. You know these numbers, you know the odds. I wonder if some of you have ever watched more than a couple Years of football? Have you never watched a horrible under dog beat a top ranked team? Stanford 41 point under dog at USC? Heck, ky beat us with a wr playing qb. There are to many examples. Just to say we haven't got a chance because of history is ridiculous.

So if the players choose to look at this game with your "reality check" then they might as well stay in Knoxville? I say take the stats and stick 'em up ole Stoops'..........

That's the best stat I've seen.

I think we can win. Id rather have Negavols complaining about unknown BS like this than what is known.
