The last time Tennessee won a true road game that wasn't Vandy, Memphis or Kentucky was against Mississippi State in 2007.

Oklahoma is just a tad tougher than that, so the last time Tennessee beat a ranked team on the road was 2006 against #9 Georgia.

The 2007 Vols were 10-4 with an SEC East Championship.

The 2006 Vols were 9-4, 9-3 in the regular season.

Do you guys still think we will win? Statistics say hell no.

So were never going to beat a good team on the road again? I guess we might as well not even play the game.

I believe someone stated this earlier... I don't think there are any players from any of those teams you mentioned.. nor any or the coaches. Seems like a whole new attitude/team/players at UT now. There is always a chance.. always.

If anything Wyoming and Memphis from years past have proven that..

IMO we will win respect. And for now, that may have to do.

As I am one who does not think we will win (negavol, I know, blah blah). But, with that being said, the turn around has to happen sometime. . . .

FTR, you didn't cite a single "statistic" nor did you cite a single fact that has any bearing whatsoever on Saturday's game.... unless some of those past teams are somehow coming back to play.

I'm just ready for these countless threads to go away and for people to shut the heck up about it. Believe what you want to believe. Your opinion on an online message board isn't going to strengthen our offensive line or weaken Oklahoma's quarterback.

Let the game be played. The answers will start rolling in around 8:00 EST on Saturday.

Possibly the worst logic/connecting of the dots I've seen. You're using records from 8 yrs ago to "justify" why we should lose? We're 2 games in. What if this team ends up 9-3, then in hindsight it would be expected that we should've won because our record justified it?

I'm always a bit confused by how "all or nothing" these kinds of conversations seem to become. Is there anything remotely unsupported in the idea that OU shouldn't be strongly favored in this game? So why should it become a point of vitriol with some to state such a thing?

Saying there's a much greater probability we lose than win Sat is not being defeatist...it's the truth. Is it "possible" to win? 1980 and hockey mean anything to anybody? The problem isn't accepting that upsets happen, they obviously do, but some seem to want to argue that the very fact something "can" happen makes it a reasonable expectation.

To argue it's simply impossible for the Vols to win Sat doesn't hold up to historical scrutiny. It would hardly be the greatest upset ever. However, to argue it isn't still a fact that there's very little reason to expect the Vols to win Sat doesn't hold up to logical scrutiny.

you know there is a reason they call them UPSETS don't you ?

they don't call them impossibles or never gonna happens, they are called upsets and they happen quite frequently. So take your numbers and statistics and stick em in your pipe and smoke them.

Stats don't mean sh*! during game time. Until we actually lose Im gonna have faith in our boys to win. If Dooley was still coaching I would've already counted this one as a loss. CBJ can get it done though! GoVols

As much as I enjoy statistics, Oklahoma are infamous for not holding up in games that statistically favor them.

Here's a reality check. Saturday night I'll pour me a 3 Floyds in a glass, sit down and turn on the TV expecting to see a Vols victory until proven otherwise. It's like I've done every game my entire life (minus the beer til about 9 years ago). Is it the definition of insanity? Maybe. But after these past six years if you still wear orange and white you're a little crazy and should be proud to be a true VFL.
