Reality is we do have a chance...

We'd play Tennessee, Kentucky, and Georgia. I feel for you guys, lol. Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and UF? That'd be brutal. At least we would have Georgia as a game to rest.

i liked the thought of it just being one division, thats the fair way to do it in my opinion. but you cant match us up with uk, fla, and vandy 2x's each every year while bama plays who? auburn, ole miss, and uga? really?

got to find a more fair way of doing that...

UK and Vandy for sure. I would have guessed the conference would have chosen UGA as the other. Not that we really have a 3rd rival in hoops but UGA is closer.

it's closer, but i think they definitely would consider Fla the rival. in any matter, it needs to be fixed, especially KY, i have a problem with us playing them 2 times a year, but only 1 or 2 other teams having to, BS.

thats the issue i have with this system. how is it fair we play UK, Vandy, UF and SC will play the absolutely jokes of the sec. and what is to stop say SC, from tanking it and saying auburn, lsu and miss are their main rivals?

It can be just as harmful to SC in that scenario because it devastates their RPI. this is bad for everyone involved

they arent getting in the tournament with the current set up, best case for them would be play more cupcakes in sec, and hope you pull a few ooc wins.

they sure arent getting into the ncaa tournament the way it currently sits for them though playing UK, UT, Vandy, UF all twice, this would benefit them.

heres my questoin? whats vandys rivals gonna be?

UT and then who, they claim ole miss, and auburn? they really arent rivals with UF, or UK. they could greatly benefit from this idiotic system.

Candy's two rivals are UT and Ky. I don't know who the third would be.

i just think the whole idea of picking your rivals is dumb. it just flat out isnt fair, and not just for us, but for other teams in the sec as well.

what is the negative to doing the 16 game schedule they want this way:

you play all 13 teams in your conference, and then you rotate the 3 teams you play on a 2 year basis. so year 1 say we play all 13 teams and then we play vs.alabama, @s. carolina, vs. UK.

the next year youd play 13 teams against, and then would switch location with those teams. @bama, vs. s.carolina, @uk.

and then the following year would start over with 3 new teams. i dont see the negative in that. you keep your conference as 1 division, and you play the 16 game schedule that everybody wants. if they want to go 18 games like they are talking about, do the same thing play all 13 teams and then alternate 5 teams each year.

Cuonzo Martin: 10-6 in SEC puts Vols 'in good shape' for NCAA » GoVolsXtra

good read. coaches and players are starting to speak about ncaa possibility. ccm says if the vols go 10-6 in the sec they should be in good shape to get into the ncaa tournament.

CCM says "I look back at our RPI, when it was 290 against Austin Peay (on Dec. 1), and now it's like (110),'' Martin said. "We're definitely making progress as a team at the right time. I think if you win your next five, I don't think there's any question at this level in this league,'' Martin said. "With the NCAA, you don't have a true gauge of, here's the criteria; in one year, it can change on you. If we win 10 league games we'll be in good shape, but that doesn't mean we'll be in for sure. You do your job, put in your work, and when Selection Sunday comes, if you're a part of it, you're a part of it.''

skylar says "If you don't say you think some about (postseason), you'd be lying, But if you start looking too far ahead, you can lose sight of what's next. If we focus on taking care of what's at hand, the big picture will take care of itself.''

Stokes says "We definitely plan on going to the (NCAA) tournament. It would be amazing, but we feel we can beat any team we step on the floor with.''

its going to be interesting to me to see how both the staff and players now respond to the ncaa talks. its put up or shut up time now, and i love it.

And what about mizzou and a&m? We haven't even thought about them

what do you mean? they wouldnt be our rivals so they dont factor in that way.

they factor in to the expanded league play though. right now we play 16 games against 11 teams, and 5 teams from former east division 2x's a year making it 16. When they join they want to do 16 games against 13 teams and play 3 games 2x's a year against your rivals to make it 16.

who would even be their rivals is my point

Will it be random? Geographic?

There seems to be so many variables for the current SEC teams like tradition, rivalry, annual strength of program and most importantly the money made in ticket sales for a particular matchup. We don't really have answers for those questions with those 2 teams.

gotcha. yea your absolutely right, i guess they have to use each other for starters as rivals haha. they both would probably also use arkansas as a rival as well.

i really dont know, personally its idiotic IMO. in no way is that the least bit fair to any team in the conference. nobody should have to play UK 2x's every year while others play s.c 2x's a year instead. absolute BS

I always look forward to playing UK twice. I dearly want to go at them again in Nawlins.

And next year, when Davis, Jones, Lamb, Miller, Kidd-Gilchrist etc have moved on...well, I really like our chances. No matter how awesome their next crop of merceneries will be.

Wow what an ending in this game, hopefully some of you saw it well anyways...

BOOM!!!

4th place Tennessee volunteers baby

Wouldnt us being in 4th place be bad because it makes us more likely to get a bye?

In all honesty there's no way really were gonna go 5-1 or 6-0 without getting a bye,so might as well hope we can just get as high as possible.

If we can pull a 2 and get on the opposite side as UK our road to sec t championship gave isn't all that rough.

Plus, if the committee decides to take 6 sec teams, it will be very hard to leave us out if we finish 20-14 (10-6) and the #2 team in sec.
