Here's my predictions for 2013. Tennessee finishes 8-4.
My thoughts are that UT will be MUCH improved on Defense. We have Randolph coming back, along with Maggitt healthy, and most of the other starters on Defense. Much of our defensive problems last year were schematic. Once a team figured we'd give up the margin (not keep contain) and our CBs were'nt going to press coverage, opponents offensives went after it. We had Florida last year if not for a complete let down at end of 3rd/4th quarter (after Randolph got hurt). Hoping our running game gets a bit better with more experience and with Graham working with these guys.
That being said, relying much on the play of QBs stepping up. Haven't been terribly thrilled about Worley, but have heard he has progressed well and if not him, then Peterman may be one to work well. Also, hoping some WRs are ready to step up and that one of the new TEs work out.
As far as our schedule, Florida is on the way down, don't believe Muschamp will beat this TN with a decent defensive scheme. ie Florida in the Sugar Bowl or the Bowling Green game. You get up on Florida, their offense is slow to respond. Plus, Muschamp is a crazy angry hothead. Vandy will have a 4-5 win season, their schedule is brutal, they will have a bear of a year (compared with last year). Look for the Vandy loss in the first game against Ole Miss. They won't beat Tennessee.
Auburn didn't really show me much (when I watched) last year, Mahlzhan at the helm will help, but they don't have the talent. Would think tougher to call this game in 2014.
Of the losses, two are notable, we'll have to see about Oregon, new coach out there may be a positive for the Vols. Also, never really thought that much of Richt as a gameday coach, Georgia with Richt at HC is always beatable.
Hopefully CBJ gets it done. Really impressed so far with the excitement they're bringing to Volnation. Can't wait to see what we're looking like at the Orange & White game.
