I'm trying to figure out how to delete this thread since I aggravated three people. Does anyone know how I can delete this thread??

I support these kinds of threads. I voted. It's the first freaking week of May, what the hell else are we supposed to do other than speculate? Just own it and embrace it. It's going to be a long summer.

8 wins for this squad. 7-5 regular season. Although, I really hate our OOC schedule. USU and Arkansas State? I could handle one of those, but both?

I say we're 4-2 after Chat, with losses to Ok and UGA. Then I think we beat Mizz and Ky at home, closing with Vandy for our only win on the road.

7-5 with a possible bowl win.

Honestly...I can't see it playing out any worse than this. Might even get lucky against UGA or USC. Either way, this year will be fun to watch all the new guys!

I think 8 wins counting a bowl is about right unless RF gets the nod at QB. That would probably get another win or two. Just kidding about the QB thing..just thought I would throw a little raw meat into the thread lol.

7-5. The new brand of Tennessee football will start to show itself. The season is going to be battle after battle just like last year. It will be brutal til the end but I think we at least go bowlin'! Still a very young team so 6-6 would not be too farfetched.

45% think we are winning 8 or more games. I just hope Butch knows what the ridiculous expectations are for him from this fan base........good Lord.

To everyone that thinks winning 8 games is sooooo unrealistic, understand this.

UGA, USC, UF, and Mizzou are all going through huge turnover losing most of their top skilled position players. 3 out of the 4 mentioned will be starting new QB's and WR's. We have no idea how good or bad our team is going to be this year, but one thing is certain. We have playmakers. The kids we have coming in are used to winning. Plain and simple. They don't have the losing mentality that a lot of our upperclassman have.

If Worley starts QB (which he will), expect good things. He was steadily improving before getting injured last season, and that extra downtime allowed a lot of mental preparation and learning. To top it off, he now has more weapons all over the field in North, Malone, VP, Pig, Wharton, Croom, and Kameel Jackson. And let's not forget about the backfield with a Lane/Hurd duo. I understand that some worry about our Oline, but the truth is the Oline has 4 jr's and 1 fr starting. THINGS COULD BE WORSE.

Our defense also has a few playmakers in AJ, Maggit, Sutton, Randolph, TK Jr, and the Berry twins. A lot of people will downplay the Berry brothers because they are Freshmen, and I encourage those folks to go watch Eric Berry highlights from his first year. These dudes will show up ready to hit. This is what they've been preparing for their entire lives. They will show up ready to play. We don't know what to expect from our Dline, but hopefully the rest of the D's speed can compensate.

We won 5 games last season in Jones' first year as coach. One yard away from winning a 6th, which could have led to a bowl game and win #7. With the rest of the East going through turnover, we're not going to be any worse than last year. Expect to win 7 regular season games, with an opportunity to get to 8 with a bowl victory.

Sounds about right. I would add that UGA, USC, and Miss could be W's while UF and Mizzou are possible L's. So we should be somewhere between 6-9 W's. Anything less than 6 W's would be bad as recruiting would probably start to drop off quickly.

We will be light years better on Offense this year, that is why I think CBJ wanted most of the EE to be on Offense. We needed that infusion of talent. Defensive assignments can be a little easier to learn. We are getting some absolute studs coming in, with speed and smarts. I expect us to be three games better than last year. The Defense will get better as the year progresses.

Do this for me: pretend this roster plays for South Carolina and not UT.....would you still be predicting 8 or more wins for them? I can imagine your analysis would go something like this......"USCjr replaces everyone on both sides of the line, question mark at QB, defense was terrible last year and they have the same coordinators, inexperience everywhere, brutal schedule...they're a 5 win team at best"

IMHO this is how I see the Season shaking out.
i see 6-6 with a possible Surprise Win to take it to 7-6
** = possible Surprise Win

Win against Utah St. ( Close game in the 4th win by 7)
Win against Ark. St. ( Close at Half but i believe we pull it out by 14)
Loss to Oklahoma ( probably down by 10 at half losing by 20 in the end)
Loss against Georgia ** ( Tight ball game all the way to the Wire, lose by 3)
Win against Florida ( Redemption for 9 years, Solid Team Effort win by 10)
Win against Chatt. ( 1st Team Shines First Half, Second Team Mops up win by 24
Loss to Ole Miss. ** ( Young team looks ahead to Bama lose by 4)
Loss to Bama ( Closer than think for 1st half, emotion runs out lose by 21)
Loss to S.C. (Ole Ball Coach will have them ready for Redemption loss by 14
Win against Kentucky ( We Return to Owning Kentucky Win by 21)
Loss to Mizz. ( Offensive Speed, wears on the young D. Loss by 9)
Win against Vandy ( Coach Puts the Pedal Down and Doesn't let up Win by 24)

But it does put us Bowl Eligible

Good post with evidence. However I have to disagree with the premise that you're going to use freshmen as impact players. You can plug in a few freshmen here and there to contribute. But you can't depend on them to carry a team. Johnny Manzels, Eric Berrys, and Herschel Walkers are VERY rare. I also disagree with, at least us, "going through huge turnover". We were very snake bit with injuries to very key players on offense last season. All of those players are back with a few added. Murray's gone but Mason is a very talented senior QB who would have been a 4-year starter had Murray not been there. Many said he should have been anyway.

UF and USCe are loaded with talent and, at least USCe has a HC who knows what he's doing. Wish he had come to UGA when he left UF. The world would be a different place.

I agree with your list for the most part. If CBJ can get the kids believing, you might sneak an upset in here or there. But college football games are won/lost in the trenches. And you currently are very weak there. If I were a Vol fan, I'd hope for 7 and be prepared for 4. Just MHO.:hi:

Very realistic and a good game by game breakdown. Well done.
